@@mob1_ If i remember the movie correctly, the autopilot was not working yet as far as the others knew, thats why they thought he had to fly the bomb away himself, so the reveal that the autopilot was fixed meant that he did not need to be in the cockpit, and therefore didnt get caught up in the explosion

"You trusted me and I failed you " Heart wrenching scene but it makes the payoff at the end even better. Alfred didnt fail anyone. Their son got to move on with his life and live happily in the end. Glad Alfred got to see that Bruce actually did hear him. Greatest trilogy ever.

Probably one of the most iconic endings, just inspirational. I saw this in IMAX with my wife when it came out. Seeing Bruce rise up and overcome and finally have redemption and that clarity to be free was so great. I love that the ending focuses on the 4 men who came together to mourn the loss of Bruce Wayne. To the one who needed a new way to fight he left his tools and resources. To the one who honored batman as his friend and ally, he left a way to reach out to his successor. To the one who created his gadgets he left nothing but the knowledge that was already there for him to figure out he was alive. And to the one who was his foundation and supporter every day of his life, he made their dream of seeing him safe and happy come true. Just beautiful writing and direction.
