Y'know, untimely and too soon as Molly's death was, I feel like this is how it should've gone down. Molly never really got to know his own story. Who he was before he was Mollymauk. He had no ties or obligations, no interest in his past... He died free, which while sad, seems like a good way for him to go. Shine bright, circus man.

We do not know for sure, we know that he had a Blood Cleric friend, perhaps he'll use a meanwhile character and then attempt to bring Molly back, unlikely but possible, we'll see. On another hand, I want to see Taliesin as a Swashbuckler rouge.

13:32 There's an odd truth to what Taliesin says here. At least in my own experience, I never talked about a lot of traumatic experiences. I avoided them and just pushed them away until I was finally forced to ask "What the hell is wrong with me?" The answer was similar (though not as extreme), and it made me realize that I had never said what I went through out loud. Once I did that, it got a lot easier to deal with the problems that came out of my trauma.

Not that I think the others DON'T put thought into their characters and their backstories, but the way Taliesin approaches it is just... I dunno, there's something kinda visceral and emotional mixed in with this enigmatic artistic quality. I really don't know how to describe it and am flailing for words a bit... It's fascinating though.

I think part of it is that he really invests himself in his character. Like, when he made Percy, he went learned how guns function, and had actual schematics that would probably work.

His actual charisma is not impressive - so even though Taliesin is a good talker and quick on his mental feet for finding the right sorts of things to say, when it came out through Molly, it rarely worked out. I liked the interpretation that says that Molly has that kind of charming demeanour which, when he talks, everything he's saying might seem reasonable, nut you just instantly know that he's completely full of it anyway... it's disarming and endearing and you smile, but it fails utterly to sell what he's trying to.

Yeah Taliesin and Matt said that this is not going to happen... Taliesin said something like: He felt this isn't his body/life, Molly knew that hes going to die sooner than later, Molly doesn't cares about death because he doesnt has any memories and feels not right in beeing alive when he was supposed to be dead.

@@simon4876 Also because he "died" once before, he didn't really fear death or the unknown. He mostly feared that his new life will stir up something that it shouldn't have, but he didn't let that stop him from enjoying what came his way in this new life. He was literally living each day like it was his last and going with the flow of everything around him, because he didn't want the fear of death to keep him from doing things he loved.

If you look back at the past few episodes, it's almost as if he was forecasting his own death... everything was going way too well for Molly, and heck he even bought his own Death Shroud. You can't get more goth than that.

i dont know about class balance but the blood hunter could easily use a d12 hit dice instead of d10, the barbarian uses reckless atack that gives enemies advantage on hitting them, the blood hunter sacrifices health to power his attacks, i think no other class has that kind of risk mechanic, so hit dice should be higher

Which would negate the risk...? Blood Hunter is fine as is. Its potential damage output is nuts, and nobody is /forcing/ you to use any of the HP-sacrificing abilities.

I've tried playing bloodhunter twice, once as a level 10 one shot and once as a permanent character. Both didn't last long, I feel it's a very cool option but very vulnerable.

@@jhinpotion9230 I mean with barbarians it's not just that they're hit die is larger, their main class mechanic "Rage" centers around them being able to hit harder while also taking less damage. There's no real cost for them, it's just a resource they can tap into. Reckless Attack is a great ability for them because of how it let's the barbarian play to it's strength. With blood hunters you can't really say the same thing. Their entire ability pool revolves around getting hurt, without much in the way of damage mitigation. Their hole "gimmick" centers around risk/reward, Wich inherently leaves them a lot more vulnerable than many of the other classes because they already come in with a handicap whenever they use their abilities. And since dnd already relies pretty heavily on chance, being a dice game, they're going to feel a lot more fragile than many of the other classes because of how much durability they sacrifice to do things that other classes do without sapping their own hit points. Unless you just get lucky.

I love Molly so much and I think it's because Tal has put so much of him into that character. Really I wish we could get him back... but knowing Taliesin, I don't think that will happen. But even if that's the end of his journey, I think I've learned a lot from Molly, he's inspired me a lot lately to just be myself, to be unafraid and unapologetic about what I do, love or am. Him and Taliesin are amazing in that way

I think he meant in the sense that he doesnt operate as the leader of the group or the diplomat. Fjord predominantly takes that role. He may also just be referencing that Molly only had 11 in Charisma which is just average.

Maybe . . . there may still be a chance to bring him back (or not), there could possibly be other people in the world they could seek out with the power to bring back the dead but it probably won't be easy (or not) they are only level 5 so it is relatively easy to be killed . . . i don't know, it is up to Matt and Taliesin to decide Mollymauks ultimate fate and it is up to the others to decide how his death affects them but either way i look forward to finding out

The more i watch Taliesin the more i could swear he's related to James Spader, both have an oddly specific flavour of charisma that i just adore yet can't quite put my finger on. Like, slightly eccentric, knowing far more than they let on, maybe seen darker things than they want ppl to know? Idk. Both make me want to sit down with some food and wine and just listen to them talk. Though same for Matt but he's different.

I cant decide if I like the idea of molly coming back. I love molly as a character, second only to jester in my mind, but without a solid means of resurrection it might spoil him as a character. Nothing drains color from a character like plot armor.

Zigtronik the resurrection they were talking about was revify, which is a very short term way to resurrect people (I believe within a minute). They don’t have that type of time, if they want to revive him using jester, she has to be a much higher level than she is now. So I’m guessing if they want to revive him, they’ll either do it with something with his character (make him lose his memory in the same way as he did before and maybe make him an npc) or find a powerful priest to revive him which will cost a hefty sum which they may not be able to pay. Or he could just die. Whatever happens, I’m excited to see what’s next.

I feel Matt wouldn't want to use plot armor to bring back molly, while he does like to weigh in the players favor he also did set the resurrection checks. The only character he brought back after they wouldn't be able to resurrect was Vax, the character indebted to the goddess of the time in between life and death, and after for me at least, it felt like he was more of a puppet who could think, because he was brought back as a creature all about a single goal. I don't think he would do that with molly

Tiefling are the perfect carny character. I feel like off-humanoid(tiefling, half-orc, those who look more different than other humanoid) races have ended up as part of a traveling show in more human areas. "Look at the walking demon! Look at the Demon Man!" For Half-Orcs, "Look at the Beast Man!" Blood Hunter does have a Warlock class. It's been one I want to play, though idk if Invocations are still a thing. I feel like once Percy had enough time to let it sink in, he went into the deepest part of the Castle, and screamed. Screamed, cried, and thrashed around until he let it all out and then went to dinner with Vex.

I wish he got to interact with the other characters more before he passed :'( Shine bright, circus man I know bringing him back would be cheap plot armor and make the real mourning and grief be in vain, but it sure would be nice if he could come back and be with his comrades and colleagues again

Available classes for Taliesin: Barbarian (Yasha/Grog*): With so many other classes that can tank effectively, I don’t really think the group needs a second raging barbarian. Bard (Scanlan*): His previous character was very colourful and extravagant so it could be useful to the group to have a support bard (glamour) but the problem is who could live up to Scanlan from last season? Cleric (Jester/Pike*): There are enough domains for him to choose a Cleric and not steal any of Laura’s individuality however he doesn’t seem the type to play the straight and true priest or healer. Druid (Keyleth*): Would be able to heal, and also shapeshift which could make quite an effective tank if utilised properly. However they are quite a handful. Fighter: Surprisingly no one has yet been a fighter in critical role! Similar to Molly but can be built in a completely different way such as very tanky or even ranged. Very versatile. Monk (Beau): Very similar to old character in terms of light armour and melee based. Plus they already have one monk in their group. Paladin: A great party dynamic choice for the current lack of a healer and an intermittent tank. I really hope he chooses this! Only problem is whether he could play a heroic guy or whether he would mix it up as a paladin oathbreaker or conquest. Ranger (Vex*): A possibility but he would probably choose a xanathars guide archetype but it could be too similar to a blood Hunter. Rogue (Nott/Vax*): Low chance of adding another rogue when Nott does just fine by herself. Sorcerer (Tiberius*): A good possibility despite the large amount of casters in the group already being the only thing that counts against it. Warlock (Fjord): Due to the similarity with blood hunters and the fact that there is already a warlock in his group I don’t think he would choose this. Wizard (Caleb): Could be possible if he chose a different school. Mystic: Strong possibility as it’s another class that isn’t in the PHB and offers interesting gameplay. Gunslinger (Percy*): I doubt he would go back to this! Blood Hunter (Molly): I highly doubt he will choose to be the same class right after losing Molly.

For the cleric domain that would be good for Taliesin, being the grave cleric that buries him would be a really dark twist that I could see him doing.

There isn't a playable version of the Mystic in either the PHB or the UA. So, I highly doubt that. Even if they do, it'll be stupidly broken and not worth brewing. The mystic is just one of those things that can't be fixed.

I believe the gunslinger was just a modified Fighter path.. I'd love to see him as a gothy dwarf.. paladin. Cleric or fighter also cool

I honestly think Percy was my favorite character ‘cause he has some characteristics from other… well, characters that I also love, mainly from DMC actually. That and the fact I just kinda like revenge stories no matter what way they go so his arc was an amazing hook for me.

Spoils!! You can see how much Taliesin enjoys this, Mollymauk, and what he was going to become. I feel that when Percy’s death came, he felt fulfilled with his character progress to the point in which a death would be a fitting end at that point. My understanding from this is that there’s still more that he wanted from Mollymauk..... Shame.
