Laoshu reminded us what language learning is all about. Connecting with people. Even if its brief--even if its simple. Its not just about how many flash cards you can memorize or what grammar points you've mastered. Its about the love and the joy of connection with other human beings around the world. The smile on people's faces when he spoke their native languages was so genuine. He brought a bit of their home back to them, and in doing so, warmed their heart. You will be sorely missed, Laoshu. Thanks for sharing your passion with the world and inspiring so many of us.

The reason you get such genuinely loving reactions is because they realize that you took the time to learn something special to them. It's not something you can just pay for, like handing them $1000 in cash. They know you had to spend hundreds of hours just to know their language when it's not yours.

14:41 Moses addressed a strong point here. It's actually annoying seeing posts all over the language community saying that "he'S a FaKe, hEs NoT good At ManY langages, OnLy few, VerY rePetitive". Then again, like what he said; So what? His goal is *to connect with people all over the world with different cultures*. It's true that it's indeed nifty to become proficient and fluent in a number of languages but Moses has a differing, wholesome goal. It's also a thing that he enjoys, let the fella do his thing.

Moreover learning a language is like playing GTA. You can follow the story line and complete it but that completion wont give you as lasting entertainment as the freeroam feature will. I dont want to be a master of any language, i want to build as many bridges as possible, to connect with my community. There are 320,000~ people in my city and less than 50% are white. Learning only a second or third language to fluency wont benefit me enough as learning communicable degrees of various dialects and sub languages.

@@irvinalexanderflores I started getting obsessed with his videos about 5-6 months before he died, I had 3 of his videos on my browser when I found out he died, I was a big fan of juice wrld and was hurt by his death but this one was WAY worse. I genuinely cried due to how unexpected it was. He inspired thousands of people, such a horrible loss.

What disgusts me the most is when people say, “this is America, speak English”. I love this video 🙂

Those people should know that natives had their languages too and the Europeans killed it when they went to the U.S. So sad to see people who gives a shit about people's history. This man worths more than gold for bringing these people some joy. They go from 😐 to this 😆
