Szczesny and Peña are two different kinds of goalkeepers. Szczesny is not a sweeper keeper, so playing a highline with him between the sticks sounds like a bad idea to me. Peña might be a mid shot stopper but he's really confident coming off his position to clear the balls early on. Adapating accordingly would help out at the back imo.

i have to disagree. Szczesny maybe isn't a sweeper keeper, his ball playing ability maybe that ain't good but against benfica if you look closely the goals were individual mistakes and communication errors. he conceded a penalty and gifted a free goal to pavlidis rather than that he was good the whole game. he's the one who saved the shot from di maria that kept us alive in the game and finally win it. with pena i don't see that. pena just doesn't have that assurance when in the goal. he might be pretty impressive recently and i'm happy with him but for CL and big matches we need a good shot stopper and someone with experience.

I also Noticed that Balde runs from box but he has the speed advantage to get right back to defense as soon as possible. It's a massive flaw. We turned a player who scored 1 goal in 6 games into Prime Suarez and scored a Hatrick, all because our defender is too tired from working double shifts as a striker and defender. This was the most chaotic game I have seen in a while. The problem isn't just the highline, the problem is when crosses are coming in the box, Cubarsi allows defenders to stay in front of him, and it usually leads to goals. That is a big problem. I've seen him concede the same type of goal every time. I'm still happy that we won. But it couldn't have been better.

I feel that this team could go far, if this match was a couple of years ago, I think that Barcelona would have just let their heads fall. The team seems to be working more as a unit than previous seasons. Let’s be honest here, when messi was playing towards the end of his time at the club, the club kept relying on him to beat 5 players, slot it past the goalkeeper and hey presto, we got the 3 points. Now there is more of a threat to opposition. You have a wonderful young player in Lamal, Raphinia is a very good player under flick. I hope flick stays for as long as possible and can get the players he needs to edge the club up to another level. I do, however have a feeling that the club might come up short in the champions league, I have seen many matches of Barcelona in the UCL and we do really well (not so much post messi I would admit) and then the second leg, we go into that mentality of “oh we have a 3 goal advantage, let’s just sit back and let the other team just attack us and get a comeback) we need to eliminate that mentality going forward, on both legs, we need to just go and dominate the other team over those 3 hours of football, hopefully flick can drill that into the team. I feel like we got lucky against benfica, if that was a better team then maybe the comeback would’ve been impossible.

He can't make those zip passes he used to from the right either that would break defenses. Still a great defender but I think he should switch with Araujo coz Araujo sucks at playing from the back. @@thecomplainer-my8jk He is a much more intellegent defender then Aruajo already and his passing is better then all of our CBs other then Curbarsi. He is akso 6'5" and very quick. He is spanish as well. Id look to do a buy and loan back deal with Bournemouth. Buy him in summer 2025 but loan him back until summer 2026. This would reduce the price and allow for a seemless transition when Inigos contract is up in 2026.

Eric Garcia should stay, the fact that Hansi doesn't want him to leave says a lot. He has the only player that can give us defensive attributes in the midfield aside cassado. He should stay.

The major problem with the high line is the introduction of Ronald Araujo at that backline. I'm not saying it's his fault that the team played that bad but he was not there from the beginning and did pre-season to understand how Flick wants them to play. Ansu is not making any impact and I think he needs a clean break from Barca. Go to another club on permanent. I don't see that happening because he wants every dime in his contracts. I wouldn't pay Rashford wages. 5M maybe.

This was important win- not because it’s ucl or Benfica but because loosing that badly and despite scoring the gap wasn’t decreasing and winning anyways. That will reinforce teams belief they can do it no matter how bad things turn, if they managed here they can manage anywhere

Eric García is way more valuable to the team than Rashford. Even if Eric didn't score a goal last game, he provides good depth for the holding midfielder and our defense. I wouldn't take the gamble of getting rid of a good squad player for Rashford.
