As someone who likes both the NBA and MLB I would be torn if that happened. I feel like the NBA could use him more. The NBA has like the worst media coverage of all the major sports. ESPN even fired Zach Lowe while keeping Kendrick Perkins. So Passan would be an improvement.

Not positive Jeff had the Yankees directly on his mind when talking about the big market teams not “closing the loop” but he pointed how big markets aren’t realizing their advantage is overcoming mistakes. That’s exactly what the Yankees are doing by being arguably the best team in the AL despite having 3+ guys getting paid a number that isn’t reflective of their production. Yes they could & should take advantage of a year where others are spending but comparing them to the dodgers is dumb. The LAD’s big money guys are still producing at levels that merit their $, + deferrals, + they’re in pole position. The Yankees aren’t in that “let’s add this guy and basically lock up a WS in winter” position. Plus they’re dealing with 3+ guys whose salary doesn’t match their production.
