Talking about my efforts to buy a cheap heavy-duty pickup II VLOG II

With the prices of pickup trucks continuing to climb I thought it prudent to try to find an affordable, simple truck before they go out of my price range for good.

"Get off my lawn!!" Tyler..... lol, I picked up a couple 96 Ford F350's and made one good one. I spent the money and had the 7.3 rebuilt and painted it myself. This one will be my retirement truck and I can fix everything on it myself now.

Last summer I had an offer for my F-150 that was what I paid for it new..... It's an 08 that I purchased in the summer of 09. The dealer still had two 08's on the lot because trucks were selling so poorly at that time. I got a great deal on it due to that fact. I got the guys number and told him I would go see what it would cost me to replace it. To buy a used one as nice would have cost double what I paid for mine new..... Needless to say, I told the guy I am keeping my truck due to the high cost of purchasing a truck as clean and nice as mine. I about passed out when I saw what a brand new F-150 cost! The prices of trucks its nuts..... even more so for the 3/4 and one ton trucks. If you're going to tow, get two wheel drive, their tow ratings are higher.

Well put Tyler, It's far too pricey to gamble on a vehicle now days. I was planning on upgrading my daily driver/tow rig 2001Dodge ram. Was looking at 03-07 but every-single-truck I looked at had injector problems. What a mess. Drove a pretty good distance to look at one, showed up at the stealership and it had *ZERO* oil in the engine.... Guy acted like he had no idea... How convenient.. Seems like the small car lots are getting worse at trying to rip people off now... Have a great weekend 🙂👍 Take care 🔧

Small car lots have almost universally become “Enter at own risk” lol. Nothing but overpriced, dilapidated garbage.

Things (economically) are going to get rough. Maybe not depression rough, but a lot of desperate, over-extended people are going to be broke-broke. Good deals may come along this Fall/winter.

I’ve been hearing that for 2+ years. Call me a doubter, but I’ll believe it when I see it. If anything, people will default on their loans, thousands of cars will be repossessed, and somehow prices will just keep going up.

😂 - bought an F350 SD a few years back in order to haul the household goods across the country. Got out here to the Carolinas, had a house already & then bought acreage the next county over. Now getting set to build a barn & house over the next 2-3 years out there. The truck cost me $5k. We blew it apart, re did it heavily (including a full paint job- all glass, trim, lights)...in it about $20k. Did a lot of the work myself, paid cash for everything. Not buying new

My favorite are "just needs spark plugs and the best one ac needs freon" if it was that simple it would have been done! What it's is a burned valve and a blown up compressor.

Welp, You might look into a Chevy Avalanche. Been very happy with my 2003. Had the intake cause issues but been pretty worry free. Bought it used for 6500 back in 2016 with 150k on the clock
