I'm so glad this was a two-parter, Matt and Ken. There were a lot of preconceived ideas debunked here that I've spent years sticking up for Pepe about, it was great to hear her give her own account of how her time on the show came to be, and in such an engaging, insightful, caring and above all, fair and humble way. Pepe is such an amazing woman, far ahead of her time even now in so many ways. She must always have been adored and treasured by those who have known her personally but now I think she'll have a whole new set of fans. A truly inspirational lady. Wish I could be there on August 7th but I'm half a world away, I know it'll be a great success regardless though! And if my comment on Part 1 about a third book by Pepe was noticed, it was possibly kind of touched on here so that is good to know. Thank you Talking Prisoner for delivering the interview I've been waiting for the most - it didn't disappoint! 🥰🌟

@@PaulDoe79 Oh wow, I think there would be a huge interest in the USA, What are your thoughts ? Matt

@@TalkingPrisoner I believe there would be a lot of interest because Prisoner was actually successful here in USA. The markets that carried it said the ratings were excellent. They even spoofed it on Saturday Night Live! Not to mention with the episodes being available on KZbin and Wentworth being a huge hit on Netflix that alone would garner interest. I told Val the best place to hold a convention would be in a tri-state city where people from neighboring states could attend. And of course the major cities like New York and Los Angeles would be ideal.

I'm with Matt on this. How would we know it was her dog until she mentioned it in this interview? Yes, she bonded well with the dog on set, but it could have been a professional dog with a handler. Nice story about it being her actual dog!
@ians55972 жыл бұрын
@@josephd.2725 The story about Poco being found by the two young lads was a feature in one of the Aussie TV magazines at the time - can't remember the name of it as I'm from the UK but someone in one of the Prisoner fan groups on FB put it up on there. Well worth a read! I did actually think it was common knowledge that Poco was Pepe's real-life pet at the time but it just goes to show how these little facts slip through the cracks. I think I'm right in remembering Fiona Spence used her real-life dog in a previous Prisoner storyline for the same reason Pepe said: it was cheaper and easier than hiring a "canine actor" and its handler! And in both cases, the chemistry does show through. I've never had a dog as a pet but I can see why so many people do!
@Clavinovaman2 жыл бұрын
@@josephd.2725Sorry guys, but I'm clearly in a minority here, which I find really surprising. If you look at Poco on any of her featured episodes, it's clear - to me anyway - that her attention is pretty much always directed at Pepe. She watches her body language, her interactions and is alert to Pepe's voice and movement. There is an unmistakeable, unmissable affection between Pepe and her dog. Totally disagree with your comment that "she bonded well with the dog on set". *_The bond was already there, Joseph - that's the point._* Animal affection or loyalty between dog (and often cats) and their owners, when loved and properly looked after, is absolute, unwavering - and I recognised that immediately.

@@ians5597 Good stuff. I watched the whole series as a teenager in the UK, and back in the early 1990s, I don't recall hearing much about the behind the scenes stuff with Prisoner, except for Bea visiting Cardiff around 1990 lol. It was just a great show I watched, and any behind the scenes stuff was a mystery to me at that time since no Internet etc. I'm aware there were magazine articles in Australia around some behind the scenes happenings, but I never knew about them until I moved to Melbourne 16 years ago. Glad to know that Matt the host who is almost the same age as me and grew up in Melbourne wasn't aware about Pocco either! I didn't even remember about the dog until I watched the series over again last year.

I liked Lexie's friendship with Julie "chook".When Julie arrive at Wentworth she was painfully shy at not confident, through her friendship with Lexie she became more confident, wining the beauty contest, and getting into the governor's office during the Ruth Ballinger siege to call the police, and her marriage to Steve Ryan, and the farewell she and Lexie had when when she was being transferred to Barnhurst was emotional.
