Maggie Millar is the only member of the prisoner cast I've ever met in person. She told me that she didn't get on with Sheila Florance when she was on the show but didn't go into the details and that she preferred Gerda Nicolson as governor over Patsy King. She said she liked watching Doc Martin when she visited the UK.

What a lovely lady and what strikes me from many of these interviews with the cast, its that they still seem so in awe of their characters created so long ago now, and how much they have stayed with people. I think Prisoner started in Australia in 1978 but it was much later we got it in the UK so that explains some of the time lapse but, even in that scenario were talking well over 30 years ago. Maggie was such a strong prescence in her appearances and It delighted me how genuine she was in recieving the lovely fan comments...almost as if she'd never assumed that job she had all those years ago had made such an impact on lives in present time. Matts only a 'young'un' so his reactions to the interviews with Val, Louise, Margot and Maggie speak so much for his generation. If those actresses at their times of life feel how much joy they've given to so many of us accross the world, then I think Talking Prisoner has created something very worthwhile and special.

Maggie Millar was delightful. Shows what a good actor she is, to have given us the evil Marie Winter character. Never thought Marie was particularly tough physically and couldn't fight much, but she had a massively intimidating presence and way of talking and looking at people! A scary woman! It must be hard after all the decades of work for Maggie to remember the specifics of certain Prisoner scenes, but you know those that she did remember well (like the escape over the fence and running to the helicopter) must have been the most memorable and impactful ones!

@@TalkingPrisoner I'd have to go through all her episodes again, because there were some classic lines from her. But one memorable scene that cracked me right up was when Marie was waiting in the back of the paddy wagon for Kate Peterson to arrive for them to head off to Barnhurst... to Kate's absolute shock and horror upon seeing her cackling. Hilarious! 🤣

Ken and Matt: these interviews are like a fine bottle of wine --they keep getting better as time goes on. Great interview with Maggie Millar. I always thought it was interesting how you pronounce Marie (MA- ree) while we here in the US would say: (ma-REE). Excellent interview. It goes to show what I've always said: never confuse an actor with the character that they play. When you think about it ,Maggie Millar, Louise Le Nay Louise Siverson all played hard-nosed characters ; yet they were three of the sweetest interviews.

I love the statement that Marie's exit from the series was 'one of the most iconic scenes in the show's history..' or words to that effect. One of? Come on guys.. The scarecrow on a helicopter is one of the most iconic scenes in soap history EVER! The list pretty much goes, in no particular order.. PCBH - Marie Winter's scarecrow on a helicopter moment. Corrie. - Alan Bradley gets twatted by tram on Blackpool prom. Emmerdale. - Helicopter crashes into village. Go on then.. Dirty Den personally serves Angie with divorce papers in Eastenders Christmas episode. (something you are legally not supposed to do fwiw. Serve your own divorce papers.) That last one being the most viewed moment in soap TV history.
