Ignoring the "Jewish values" part, based on that article he hates Hezbollah and seemingly by extension the Shia Muslims (and Iran) who destroyed Lebanon. This is a common sentiment among Sunni Muslims and Christians in Lebanon in the last 20 years or so.

Listening to this my heart breaks for all involved. It’s a clear demonstration of the massive implications of deception and the need for truth. However, I am incredibly frustrated at the way this interview went down. Though I appreciate Zev’s intention in this interview I feel like in moments where a heart was opened and breaking on camera, he was met with brusqueness and what I felt to be coldness. Regardless of his wrongs, and it seems he is attempting teshuva in every way possible and should be commended for his bravery in that. I believe he deserves to be met with compassion and understanding. Again, we must not and cannot tolerate the behavior, but responding with sensitivity does not mean accepting the behavior and is an imperative.

You’ll see how some people have no sense of self that they create a fake self, they are able to lie and lie and lie, most such people do not get better, and they only do if they go through years of extreme specific therapy. I live in Israel and coming to Israel would be the smart thing to do. A person should not suffer for wanting to be close to Hashem. He made a mistake and is paying a big price. All the outrage about how this person lied and nothing about the fact that the Syrian community does not follow Jewish Law the Torah does not say it is ok to exclude converts. The resolve should be Eliyah comes to Israel gets converted and this girl follows him and they marry.I suggest all the the help needed is given and this would a great Mitzah . It is extremely difficult for a Muslim to be accepted to even to go to shul/synagogue and to go through the process of learning about Judaism with various other people in Jewish groups. This is very sad because it is totally prejudice. We accept a Christian who want to learn more about Judaism and go to shul as part of the process of becoming Jewish, yet we reject a person from a Muslim family for doing the same thing. It is very sad for this man and the woman he married. I hope he can find someone to convert him and hope this woman takes him back. They can always live outside the Syrian community if the woman is agreeable to do this. I know other Syrians who marry non-Syrians and feel they need to live in a non-Syrian community. I realize that this situation is even more difficult since the Syrians don't accept any converts at all. But if he converts, all is possible, if the woman is agreeable and loves him enough. This man got caught up in a lie, that kept leading to more lies. Eventually people realize when someone is living a lie, or lying about something. He got in too deep and could not figure out how to become a Jew. And, I agree with him that it is extra hard to convert and/or be accepted if his family is Muslim. But, he still should have tried harder to convert and looked for a Rabbi that would work with him, and follow more of the Halachas. I hope one day, this prejudice issues will change in the Jewish community. Every Muslim should not be viewed as a terrorist, and he should never have been accused of this without first researching this with the FBI and CIA. I am glad the FBI and CIA cleared that up. The parents of the girl should have done "due diligence" with their research, PRIOR to the marriage, instead of afterwards. Good luck to him and his wife. It will be a difficult road, but well worth it if it is true love for both of them. But I think acceptance of him by the girl's parents will be VERY difficult, and that may deter the girl from continuing any relationship with him.

He made a grave mistake, God is truth, and he started lying, but the truth is that he acts like a little boy lying because he is afraid, and on the other hand I think he learned, that the lie will always be revealed, and when it is revealed the shame is 10 times greater, and the sorrow is 10 times greater. . Advises him to do everything to first convert to a great rabbi, and only after conversion when he learns good Torah and Halachot, morals and more ... to have a strong foundation in Judaism, to understand how difficult it is to be a Jew, and how many there are prohibitions in Halacha like not lying, not gossiping , Defamation, Fraud, Ona, and other things that the Gentiles do not consider at all. The commandments in Judaism are very precise, it is impossible to play with Torah and this commandment is very serious. In the meantime do not get married, but only after doing all the above steps.

there are problems on both sides - I saw the kallah's side on a fundraising site. But for the Syrian community not to accept a Ger is not what the Torah teaches. Ruth was accepted as a convert in the Tenach and she became the grandmother of King David after all. I think he should be accepted as a ger, but should go thru the proper procedures. He also needs to make restitution somehow to the kallah - let him work off the debt similar to how Jacob had to work for Laban for his wife.

Yes, what he did is wrong!!! BUT for whatever reason he HAD to do it, he is truly sorry. He seems to genuinely be sorry to the girl he married and the entire Jewish community. He is FIGHTER and he wants to be part of the Jewish people and WE have the Obligation in the TORAH to accept him at such a point. Jews are determined by being רחמנים, בישנים, וגומלי חסדים. Merciful, humble, and doing Chessed. After investigations of his motives, WE can and should forgive him. There must be some Jewish ancestry in his blood. I know of a two girls who are Muslims but halachically completely Jewish. One knows it but keeps Islam and the other strives for Peace but lives secular Islamic Lifestyle. Both are convinced that they are Muslims, as some of their families are not, but not religious Jews. He needs to go to Israel. He needs to find out more about his mother’s families religious background. I talked to those girls, I mentioned: they are not affiliated and their kids might NEVER know. He lied. In Judaism, there’s Repentance. Please, don’t forget: in Lebanon or in China you do lie about such a fact. I don't mean anything personal but your question shows how disconnected you are to the world of conversion. Look at it this way. Look how desperate he was - not for money, not for luxuries but to be close to Hashem, his Torah, and his people. And as far as the Syrian Community is concerned, it is one thing not to take converts, and another thing not to accept them as Jews in your community. The latter is against the Torah in every way, in law and in spirit.

Judaism is not a religion of how you 'fell' (though that may go along with it).....its a religion of standards and halacha and has always been, so you cant nec jist fix what he did as much as i wish he could. But on Shabbos he is obligated to not keep the Shabbos totally before he converts. Until he has converted he has to pick one thing that he does not "hold" on Shabbos. But he can keep Kosher totally and everything else. I think this is the correct way.

The Rambam in Mishnah Torah Hilchos Milachim states clearly that that prohibition is only if they do it as another religion like the Muslims on Friday and the Christians on Sunday. They do not have to keep the exact Shabbos but a Muslim that goes to mosque on Friday or a Christian that goes to church on Sunday goes into that prohibition.
