I’m an Englishman first because of the separatist elements of the other nations but Neil Oliver genuinely gives me a feeling of the Unitedness we may have felt with Scots and the other home nations alike. He sells Britain to me more than any other person I’ve heard. A compelling, charming and insightful Scotsman

@@Oi.... I cannot understand hating a person,giving hostile comments, based purely on being a particular nationality. I treat people as they will treat me. Scotland has some of the kindest and warm people anywhere,but Scots Nationalists are spreading hatred of English. We English don't have the same hatred of Scots. Ironic that Scots Nationalists profess to be welcoming to immigrants and yet will not welcome fellow British,the English.

As a Scot, it is a constant source of sorrow and regret to me the way that the SNP has succeeded in convincing so many of our English neighbours that a) the SNP speaks for all of us Scots and b) that we all share their intellectually bankrupt constitutional confusion....in both cases this is wrong, and soon enough (hopefully) we will demonstrate that.

@CIMAmotor
@CIMAmotor 3 жыл бұрын
@Paul Walker It was a ridiculous request because you asking them to 'do something' was completely out of the context of what they had written. All they had done is write that they liked somebody and you had replied 'do something.' What did you want them to do? Ask for his hand in marriage? They weren't being 'keyboard warriors' at all, how do you know that they don't have serious political affiliations? You are making blind assertions and it makes you sound like a massive tool.

A country can be labelled as institutionally racist, but certainly not this country (the UK). I grew up in South Africa and graduated in the early 2000’s, only to find that I could not get a job because I am white, and only black people, by law, could be widely considered for graduate roles. That is Institutional Racism.

We did the unconscious bias training at work. We were shown a short clip of actors speaking and then asked who we would choose to go out for a coffee with. I chose a woman of similar age (late 20s/ early 30s) to myself. If I'd chosen the older guy, I'd have felt awkward because it might feel like an unwanted date. Is this bigotry? The middle aged men in the group also picked the middle aged man. I imagine they felt equally awkward by the thought of asking a young woman out for a drink. Does this make them sexist bigots? I don't think so. I see it as respectful of female boundaries - and probably their own as well. That seems to be what is intentionally being broken down here and Neil's right that it's dystopian and creepy as hell. Plus, why does my work need to know who I prefer socialise with?

I wouldn’t treat anyone of colour any different, but my personal opinion is I don’t like seeing foreigners settle in my own country. If that makes me racist, then so be it

Sadly we as a nation have been systematically worn down to feel we should apologise to everyone for everything. However every country has a dark side and yet they are not expected to feel the shame that is expected from the UK. The truth is as a nation we have done and do, a lot which we should be proud of.

Neil talks absolute sense and should be in charge of Scotland, I’m sure he could do a better job than the current government there. 👏👏

Funny isn't it but since we've had the last few years of identity politics race has now come front and centre whereas it was fading away. After a few years of being accused of things i and my forebears never did, being told that I have privilege when I come from the slums of Birmingham, that I'm evil because I'm white, male ans heterosexual, my race, culture and history being denigrated by people who have willingly come here because our nation is better than theirs I am now "radicalised". I no longer care for blacks, south asians, feminists, LGBTQ.....I want nothing to do with such hatemongers. I an now VERY aware of my race, history, gender and sexuality....and I am so happy to be who I am. A house divided will not stand.

The only thing I will say is to be careful at lumping people into groups as if everyone in that group agrees.

My family goes back generations in Scotland and with only 5 million people in Scotland , its not going to be long before im the historic minority in my own country . But having worked and travelled all over the world i have yet to find a country that dosent have some sort of racial and religious tension to one degree or another .I can tell that the UK is a very tolerant place to live .
