There has certainly been a "dereliction of duty" by the people running academia, to ensure that free speech is protected. This dereliction also includes a "duty of care" which should have been shown to all those students who have different views (as well as guest speakers) ... all of whom have been bullied into keeping silent and not expressing their own thoughts and beliefs. So it's about time the Government took the "managers" running universities and student unions to task, and made them aware that The Equality Act should be applied to everyone, not just the minority with the loudest voices.

But self-identification completely undermines the suffering and real struggle to ‘live’, as you said, of many individuals. Read a book, my friend. Don’t take the easy route and be woke. @@dimercamparini I think it’s self denial in young women that they are more vulnerable as a sex. They refuse to believe that they are in the danger they are (around certain types of men). They have not lived long enough either to have experienced sexual assault, or threats or intimidation of. That’s how I remember feeling when I was 16, it’s a way of coping when you are emerging into womanhood. Quite scary so denial is a coping mechanism. However yes women are weaker in the sense that we are less dominant than men and more likely to accept being pushed aside.

We do that because if we don't, we get cancelled, threatened with rape, and punched in the face like the elderly woman at the Let Women Speak event in New Zealand. It's delusional, aggressive, violent misogynistic men that are physically threatening us if we dare say no to them. We need men to be on our side and to help us say no, but as usual when it's about women's rights, we're on our own.

We lost free speech years ago when they came for the racists, the "far right" & "homophobic" Christians. Very little was done to defend them. A few months ago a young lad was hounded out of school when accused of damaging a Quran, his mother was hauled before the Mosque's congregation to beg for his safety. There is a teacher in hiding for showing a Muhammad cartoon. Very little liberal outrage for any of them. I am glad to see Professor Stock is getting a reasonable level of support from certain quarters but this battle was lost years ago. You would need to elect a government which was prepared to change or dismantle the entire edifice of hate speech law; as well as defund & disempower "equality & diversity" promotion in the institutions. That ain't happening any time soon
