Instead of complaining remember you can simply make a request and give your reason so they understand why.

If Guy ever decides to change career I hope he becomes a stand-up comedian. He is so witty! (Unfortunately sometimes his audiences don't seem to get his jokes.)

Don’t forget to mention instead of complaining, make a request of what you want ie the solution or what you prefer or want. You save time so they can do what you prefer if they know what you want. When you make a request, they can say yes or no. So you feel better.

I have had fear of failure as birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas approach. I never saw my father give my mother a present or my mother give my father a present. She constantly belittled him behind his back. He avoided her and us ( four boys ). My ex was very good at shopping in general and shopping for presents in particular. I was clueless. Very challenging.

In all honesty, I am very, very surprised this hasn't gotten more views. It seems to me like something that should be mandatory for all employees in the service industry, because the complaint could also be from the service industry professional to the customer, not just the other way around.

The woman @48:15, is surprised that someone complained she was doing stretching exercises while waiting for her food in a restaurant? Who raised her? She is clueless as to why it would bother anyone. I'm glad that there was someone there to point out TO HER that it's just bad behavior. Unfortunately she just doesn't get it, since she says it happens to her all the time.

I agree but I don't think that excuses rudeness on anyone's behalf, and especially doesn't give you permission to mumble an insult to someone. Like Guy said you can take your complaint to them. But yea that does sound unappetizing to watch someone air out their armpits in an eating area even if it is outside.

it's funny how when I'm polite to stressed customer service agents, they switch it around and feel safe to unload anger on ME

Nice attempt at systematization, which assumes that we are rational and that complaint is just that and not tied in with anything else. It might work for consumer complaints or dealing with strangers. My opinion is that it wouldn't work for 99.99% of interpersonal problems. What we call complaint is ~90% something else, like: insecurities, power and responsibility issues, attention drawers, projections or plain inertia. Also, it needs effort, emotional maturity, objectivity, knowing thyself X2.

He: I hope she comes late at the movie theater,so I would have a big reason to complain about her and get all the anger of the day to her. She: I have all the time available to be in time at the movie theater but I won't just to make him crazy again. Both want to start a fight. Both are humans. Including you reading this.

48:33 DO NOT stretch at a restaurant in the middle of ppl. or tables ... a restaurant is NOT the place for that... isn't that obvious? no, obviously, yes, HIT THE GYM next time.

I liked how the who asked the question about her getting complaints for stretching in inappropriate places didn't for a second think that maybe she was in the wrong for causing an awkward situation for people who are trying to eat. My advice to her would be get a gym next time and stop trying to draw attention to yourself by stretching in public hoping that guy would ask for your number. Did she really believe she was right to do that?

Ric Rags, I disagree with the assumption that she was trying to get asked out. Believe it or not, lots of people just do what's convenient for themselves without reference to other people

I think this is a great talk with a lot of important information about learning to control yourself and not to identify with every negative thing that happens to you but rather to fix the problems that present themselves in a positive way. I have to admit I got a little side tracked when we started talking about big boobies.

Great Presentation, But he missed the fundamental problems. I think 90% among those who complains also realized that they did something wrong. It was out of control respose or I could have done it in nice way, similar to the complain sandwitch. But, fundamental problem is awareness. People are not aware. May be "Guy Winch" himself must become angry and realized it later, ohh, it would be better if i did this. sigmund freud, the great phychologist of the Era himself used to be angry and lost his temper, although he is the person who analyzed human phychology to its extreme....For me awareness is the key, presence of mind the foundation and meditation is the solution.
