Love how Professor Michio Kaku explains extremely hard things in an easy way that normal person would understand. Very excited about human future. A big fan of the professor. "Extinction is the norm" - it reminds us all that we are just a tiny atom in this vast universe and that we all should put aside our differences and learn to love/respect each other like there is no tomorrow.

Fun fact Albert Einstein thought he was stupid in his early years. He wasn't able to find jobs anywhere. He even wrote to his family that "he wished he was never born". Then somehow his father managed to provide him with Clark Jobs. He even thought of selling insurance door to door. But then came his miracle years. From that Clark Jobs he wrote some papers that changed and revolutionised physics forever. So, my point here is don't think you are stupid and if you do think that you are stupid then my friend you are just the opposite (intelligent) (Dunning Krueger Effect). So, keep on learning and improving yourself. And as always "stay curious".👍

@@AEON. Yep, it's sad that he not only talks about the same things all the time, he literally uses the same sentences. He even does it in this very talk, I thought at 15:38 that the video started all over again because he used the exact phrase he used in the beginning, like people laugh about the same joke they heard twice in 15 minutes. Everyone who has seen some videos of him has heard about his "Einstein's desk" story, his accelerator story, his "one inch long - string theory of everything is what I'm living for" story, "cockroach ASIMO joke", type 1-3 civilizations with us being 0. This goes on for freaking years now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGKciqyYjZtpg7s This is a link to a video almost 10 years old including: - his desk story - his accelerator "japanese girlfriend" story - Moore's Law - the ASIMO retarded cockroach story, - the "what does the sun go around" - the wormhole story - and of course the "types of civilization" It's basically the exact same thing, nothing has changed in almost a decade, he's just regurgitating the same stuff all the time, it's actually sad.

Great talk, with lots to thinks about. Especially his assertion right at the end -- i.e., "We're humans, we have a brain... so we control our destiny." This is not at all a given. We've been here a few [tens or hundreds of] thousand(s) of years and already face HUGE obstacles *of our own making* (in addition to natural disasters/extinction events). Dinosaurs roamed the planet for tens of MILLIONS of years. It's not clear yet that our amazing brain and skills have a great effect on our collective longevity or ability to "control our destiny".

Dinosaurs can't and could not build space stations.(Also dinosaurs didn't go extinct, birds are dinosaurs) Yes we're not guaranteed to survive but we have the best chance out of all the complex organisms in earths history. We have the ability to make it rain to lift are selves beyond the heavens. We can control are future more so than any other life form. Are intelligence gives us a fighting chance were all other creatures only exist to breed and die in an endless static of repetition and eventual destruction. In the grand scheme of things Humans are unique in that we keep progressing and getting better because of are intelligence. This will ether make us gods in the next 100,000 years or kill us before then.

So much technological speculation and focus. While technological advancement will be a component of the future (of course), humanity will be much more concerned with meeting the basic needs of people - a growing population in a declining world. A world with a damaged and changing climate and environment, which will yield less food and less freshwater in many regions. A world of diminishing resources and ever greater potential for disastrous conflict over them. And, as is still largely unrecognized; but is critically important, a world that is being manipulated by intervening forces and groups from beyond the world. The future will be unlike the past, and it will be very challenging. In order to understand this and prepare for it, I recommend the extensive materials published by Marshall Vian Summers.

Don't worry, you're obviously too young. When you learn how to spell his name properly (i.e. in a non-insulting way), then you might just be old enough.

There are very few people in the world who can explain a complex concept in a way that can be understood even by a layman. I adore people like Sam Harris, Brian Green for this very reason. I just found Michio Kaku today and became a huge fan. Only complaint is, Google could've hired a better interviewer.
