@@Shdhd2347 they could negotiate on their own behalf or just hire a lawyer. De bruyne used an analytic firm to help negotiate his contract, not an agent. It’s not true wages would massively increase as a result of it, look in America as an example. Why should clubs pay for people who don’t work for them? The agents work for the player. On an average contract, the agent fees from a player. would be roughly 1 weeks wages. Also, like I mentioned previously, Chelsea’s spending would decrease massively even if they to give the players an extra 1-2 % increase or so. And eliminated the agent payments.

@@Shdhd2347 it wouldn't it would lead to more competitive agent's rates if they have to undercut each other to gain business. If you're charging a fortune a player will drop you for another agent that will get them just as good a deal for less of a fee.

To be honest, I am in favour of hard caps as well. It's just an endless arms race otherwise that drives inflation down the pyramid. This inevitably puts smaller clubs out of business and causes hardships and administration for others. Simon speaks as football as a pure business, when it clearly isn't as straightforward as that. There are many stakeholders beyond the owners and the players.

@pelseynzenze8415 FFP was triggered by Chelsea the minute Shevchenko left AC Milan to join them in 2006... That's when Serie A started screaming... Note that AC Milan and Inter Milan have different owners since 2007/FFP screams, whereas the Elkann/Agnelli dynasty still own Juventus. Barcelona and Real Madrid only started screaming after the Spanish league clamped down on La Liga clubs' spending. In short, Chelsea triggered FFP when they upset Serie A, and Serie A pulled Barcelona and Madrid only after La Liga clamped down on them.

There are 3 types of club in the premier league - those who are global brands, those who are trying to become a global brand, and those who’s ambitions will never extend that far because they just don’t have the visibility and size to ever do it. The final group are those to whom TV money is the most important. If theyre capping spending to a multiple of TV money when bigger clubs have other revenue streams, you are creating a perfect impetus for a super league once again.

And yet the smallest clubs get the same share of TV revenues as the largest, despite the biggest 6 clubs generating about 80% of those revenues yet the smaller clubs complain that the current spending is unfair. sounds like you've completely missed the point on this one. How does capping spending to let's say £500m negatively affect the bottom clubs in the league? It's literally going to be the same cap for all the clubs mate. It's a multiple of the broadcast revenue of the club that finished last the season before. Squad cost control will limit the smaller clubs spendin, not the anchoring.

It won't affect villa until they grow their revenue high enough. Squad cost control measures will still limit their spending to 85% of revenue. Last financial year they made £250m. with UCL next season let's say it would be around £300m. They would still be limited to spending £255m which is well under whatever the spending cap would be. Scum have never been trashed for the way they went bust before, overspending etc but when Pompey did it more than half the Prem clubs at the time & the authorities threw the book at us, derided us but the actual architects of our demise, 3 successive bent owners were never punished by the football authorities, it took the fans themselves to save the club with no help at all from the authorities... we, the fans paid back all the local businesses, small traders etc that were affected by these corrupt owners ripping the life out of the club. As usual those with the power to do something about it get handsomely paid, sit in their ivory towers & treat anyone that cause problems like an annoying fly & swats them aside... where there's big money to be made, inevitably the vultures & crooks will hang around to get their share & bugger off when the shoot hits the proverbial... there never will be a level playing field... one of the reason Klopp has walked away from Liverpool, he would have been an even more successful manager had it not been for City's billions... & still the authorities haven't dealt with the 100+ charges against them whilst every other club who have broken the rules have been dealt with fairly swiftly It's why we should applaud the efforts of teams like Brentford, Bournemouth, Ipswich, Exeter, Pompey in it's current state... they have tried to be clever, go their sustainability practice right & not tried to buy the dream as Pompey were once guilty of... rant over, dinner's waiting 😆

It's important not to lose the Clubs that increase Global appeal, Serie A miserably broke down because Ac Milan, Juve and Inter Milan stopped being a Global Force... If The Prem Loses Manchester United and Manchester City to something like the Super League that would hurt it's TV income... Contrary to what people believe Manchester City has more Global fans than Liverpool currently just go to Africa one the biggest Premier League Markets. Liverpool never really had any grip there so it was easy for Man City to capture new fans and they continue to increase in Asia and South America.

Yes but how many of those are loyal fans? How many of those fans abroad like city posts but actually support more than one club? These are not revenue drivers? they just look good for man City social media coverage? Did you know man City sell less merchandise than spurs, are substantially less popular than spurs in Britain and that west ham has substantially more fans than man City in Britain? You need to have a fanbase to rival the top 4 teams not the top 6! Hence city are not as big as you think! Come to England, wales, Scotland Ireland you will realise man City is just big amongst many others? Finally only 5% of the man City social media fanbase are loyal brits!

City coukd literaly have 0 fans and it wouldn't change anything. Sponsors aren't selling stuff to fans of 1 club. Utd's pot noodle partner isn't selling them to Utd fans. They're using Utd's televised games to sell the product to everyone watching the game. It's the 2m people or whatever watching the game t care about. Not who's a die hard Utd fan. Thier target is the casual fan, because they're more of them.

Ruining the game. Let the free market decide, that's what's made the Premier League what it is. If Newcastle get new owners let them spend it, if they go bust let them. As football fans we don't just think of success as winning trophies, so leave our game alone.

Why would the clubs vote in something that would handicap themselves still. If what he is saying the anchoring proposal means nothing unless 70 percent of your revenue is higher than the anchoring camp so 90 percent of the teams it won't matter too keeps the cartel in place still. Seems strange

OFC Man Utd and City objected given their revenues and where those revenue streams come from, but there now protected from their revenue they see as a divine guaranteed right being challenged under the current model of FFP, if Man Utd were not in the CL for 5 yrs in a row because someone else can have go , do it better and beat them to it obvs means sponsor money etc will drop so they will never want that risk. the great thing is about this proposed model is any sensible owner can have go one season and if it doesn't go as planned cut back again and not worry they will get a points deduction for having a go one year then missing out. The league will be more competitive and fun and varied and owners will still have to run clubs well to maintain long term success through managing all the commercial stuff and not just taking for granted money coming in. Simon is bang on the current model has delivered what the top clubs wanted - a free pass and easy ride to win and generate money.
