I’ve heard a lot of talk that Salah is on the decline, particularly after his hamstring injury with Egypt in January. The reality is Salah’s version of “on the decline” is any other player going through the best spell of their entire career. Salah has only played 499 minutes for Liverpool since injuring his hamstring at AFCON. In those 499 minutes, he has 5 goals and 4 assists. That’s a G/A every 55 minutes.

@@Ligerpride The thing is Salah has adapted his game. He very rarely takes defenders on in true 1v1 situations anymore. For as much flak as he receives for turning the ball over, people fail to realize he’s turning the ball over attempting incisive passes and shots in the attacking third. We now live in an age where players, managers, and fans are obsessed with keeping possession at all times. Players like Salah and De Bruyne both generate so many goals because they take the complete opposite approach. They both are very much willing to lose the ball in the final third to generate goals. And that’s why both of their numbers are so ridiculously off the charts. Because they consistently take risks in the final third when more and more players are trained to be risk adverse.

He's definitely on the decline. Sure, he pops up with a goal or an assist, but his general play isn't effective, certainly not unpredictable or dangerous, like when Darwin plays on the wing.

@TerribleEnglish Salah’s job is to take risks and generate goals. The likes of Endo, Szoboszlai, MacAllister, and Jones are the ones whose job it is to keep possession. People are so fixated on keeping possession that they’ve completely forgotten attacking players are actively encouraged to take risks in the final third in pursuit of generating goals. That is why Salah generates so many goals and assists and is off the charts compared to 99.99% of all other players.

People say Klopp leaving is very different to Ferguson leaving Man Utd, that being he is leaving the next manager a good team. I disagree, Salah is still the primary goal scorer and his form is starting to wain hence the results of late. Nunez whilst a great talent has an extremely poor conversion rate. If Van Dijik leaves that will be huge as Liverpool, then need to rebuild a back four again and this will take time. Then there is the aspect that the players will have to come to terms with the new style of play the manager brings. I can see Liverpool struggling for the next season or two, even longer if they jump on the manager merry-go-round.

The fact they didn't sign before klopp announced he was leaving tells me there were issues there now, and klopps leaving those issues have increased. Over the years, I've noticed if players want to stay they normally don't leave it to the final year to sign a new contract.

Many were willing to sell Salah for 150mil last time, myself being 50/50.....If he'd been sold LFC would not be 1Cup in the cabinet, Title contenders and able to send off an hall of famer Klopp with at best x3 trophies at worst just one and most likely x2 with Europa making it a clean sweep of every trophy possible for Klopp and LFC.. Salah still has more than enough and 150mil delivered and broadcast gets you nothing in a hurry!!!! The Kings Reign continues.

We haven't had a permanent director of football. So he hasn't been offered 1 yet. Edwards first priority since his return has been sorting a new manager. But the contracts will be sorted by the end if the season, with the players we want to keep.
