He was only at WH for two years, but what amazing two they were. As a Liverpool fan I only have positive things to say about him. He scored some crazy goals for them. He obviously left for family reasons snd WH were good for letting him go, but they also realised it probably wasn’t worth having a player who was desperate to leave, it would have told in his performances. He’s now 37 and playing in Brazil for Vasca.

Biggest myth in football that West Ham are a big team. Wigan Athletic have achieved more in the last 40 years.

What do you class as a 'big' club ? And how can you claim Wigan have ACHIEVED MORE than westham in the last 40 years ? I believe Wigan are in the 3rd division, and have spent more years in lower leagues than westham have in those 40 years. Wigan won the FA cup about 10 years ago, westham won the Euro conf cup year before last. Westham have NEVER been lower than the 2nd division, over 90% of our time has been in the top division. ( one of only a few clubs can claim that) Westham have a huge fan base, we sell out over 60k each home game, I think Wigan stadium is under 30k , even though Wigan have a larger catchment area and unlike westham are not surrounded by a bunch of premier league & lower league clubs all within a couple of miles of each other. I've travelled around many countries throughout my life and always come across other westham fans,fan clubs, , even before the premier league existed and started showing games around the world. Westham have attracted many top players who are world famous, Wigan might have had one or two top players but without looking none that come to my mind . I don't know how many times Wigan have played in Europe in 40 years, apart from the time after winning the FA cup, and I haven't a clue how far they got. But I guarantee its less than westham and not as far as quarter finals, semi finals and a final. Going beyond the 40 years, the one time England won the world cup the team included 3 westham players, one a captain and two who scored the 4 goals, ( 1 getting a hatrick, which has never been done before or since) Basically westham won the world cup. We played in the first ever Wembley fa cup final, we are the last team to win a European trophy with all England players. The great Pele called Bobby Moore the best defender in the world... Just a few reasons why westham ARE a BIG CLUB and known around the world.
