This is good to set expectations for people. I have an A2 certification and while I can read and write OK an actual conversation will take me much more practice.

Wow this clears up a lot. I’ve always said I was A1, A1.2 just based off my own experiences with French and general estimation, but with this description, I guess I know more than I give myself credit for.

I’ve got well over 200 hours of studying Portuguese but I’d certainly not say I’m A2 level. Makes me feel a bit stupid sometimes.

Hi Rick! Definitely not stupid. The right resources and teacher can definitely make a difference too ☺️

By the way, if you take one of the official 150-hour Government-arranged language courses for foreigners (normally run in the evenings at secondary schools), you get a properly recognized A2 certificate at the end of it without needing to go and take the CIPLE A2 test.

Liz, firstly, I regularly watch your videos to compliment my studies, and I enjoy your cheerful and direct style. I´d like your opinion about what is the clearest difference between an A2 and B1? I teach English in Spain and am familiar with the European guidelines, but I´d like to hear what you think. Muito obrigado!

Thank you, glad you enjoy! I follow the European guidelines myself!

If A2 means conversational Portuguese does it mean that you don't need to know how to read and write Portuguese?
@TalktheStreets Жыл бұрын
You do need to learn the basics of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation in order to get to an A2 level!

Sorry, A2? This is way too low for citizenship. I'd say at least B2 is better.
@TalktheStreets Жыл бұрын
A2 is the level requested to complete the CIPLE exam.
