Very good interview chatu. We are all human. Religion is what parents in plant on us. I was born in Colombo. My dad is Hindu tamil. I studied Buddhism and studied sinhalese. I can read and write sinhalese but not tamil. I live in UK last 42yrs. Looking back now the religious and national conflict was created by politicians. When I read some of the comments in sinhalese even now how much hatred still some of the sinhalese have and to think tamil people are LTTE is heart breaking. Which generation are we living in? Iam glad i studied Buddhism and sinhalese. When I visit SriLanka lots of people say they can't believe living in UK over 42yrs I can still speak pure sinhalese. I took distinction in sinhala literature. I really don't understand whether I belong to tamil or sinhala. Now I know I am a human. That is all what matters which I educate my family who was born in UK. Maintain unity. People need to change their thinking. This aragalaya is great.

After the British conquered India, people were classified according to language. It was inspired by the Bible. That's how the people called by the names of languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalee were formed. Also, at the time of the beginning of the British rule in Sri Lanka, the majority of Tamil speakers in Sri Lanka were Muslims. In spite of this, even when the Muslims opposed, the government called the Muslims at first as Tamils who follow the religion of Islam. 250 years ago there were no Tamils anywhere in the world. Was in the past There were races like Kalingas, Cholas, Keralas, Pandeys and Sinhalese. Even there the British did a fraud, they did not name Hindi speaking people as Hindi. That is why even today there is no ethnic group called Hindi.
I visited Jaffna and Nagadipa after the civil war also to mention Nalloor Hindu temple and another very beautiful sacred temple in close to elifant pass.l met people all were humble and happy to talk to us. I was glad l did it.

I have seen the effects after the war by myself. In a way I salute them. Tamil people have no legs and they have no power and position to fight. The Tamil ministers in the parliament are the same like others in the parliament. No one cares about their own people. Atleast some sinhalese have the guts to fight now. I am not saying LTTE did everything was right. Atleast the strong cast system demolished now as everyone is allowed to go to the Hindu temple unlike before. One day i would like to meet chathura and talk about my family and what we have been through and how this situation arised today. Yes. My dream is also to spend my old age in SriLanka and die too. No matter what I love my country and people ❤️. ARAGALAYATE JAYAWEWA 🙏
