If I had a penny for every Netflix teen romcom sequel that introduces a slightly browner boy, who’s more interesting than the original love interest, to threaten the main characters relationship only for her to stay with her original bf …I’d have three pennies which isn’t a lot but weird that it happened three times.

The main actress really was bullied heavily for her height. So this movie and message super close to her heart. But she was a competitive dancer, featured on Dance Moms. That setting is hypercritical and visually driven, it’s not like she had a normal upbringing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Okay but why does Netflix feel the need to include a love triangle in the sequels to their romcoms (with the second love interest being a POC) which (while I absolutely love) feels like an insult cause you know the main girl is always gonna go back to her bland Bf and not the sweet second choice cause of “true love” or whatever Like please it’s so predictable🥲

Tall Girl 2 is that one girl who constantly craves for attention but never actually gets it. It’s also that one sequel we never asked for, and yet we still ended up watching the whole damn thing. Stig and Dunkleman would’ve been great together, honestly. Their platonic (and probably even romantic) chemistry is definitely above the charts. I still can’t get that Backstreet Boys song off my mind. It’s permanently stuck at this point. Thanks for reacting to this movie Aaron & Jo! It is called a market. The first movie got a decent amount of watch time, so they make a sequel. Large companies are driven by profit incentive. These types of movies are probably cheap to make, and bring in a decent number of eyes. There is so much entertainment produced today that most of it will be very similar. You can't snap your fingers and expect there to be thousands of creative and original shows or movies.

I agree, Jodie should’ve been with Tommy the other guy. Dunkers gives off creepy stalker vibes since he carries a milk crate around in hopes of kissing Jodie. while i do understand that none is expect from being bullied at some point of they’re life’s, which is honestly sad, i find is hard to believe that a pretty blonde girl like her would be bullied for her height, she definitely be one the “popular” girls at lest when i used to be in school
@missserenity1090
@missserenity1090 2 жыл бұрын
As you said she’s pretty and the tallest girl in school. She is also from an at least upper middle class family and her sister is a known beauty queen. She would be so popular if this was real life.

I think ppl can be bullied for literally anything and typically comes from a place of jealousy. So it makes sense if people were bullying for those reasons. It would explain why she was insecure to people not like her. That would of made for a more interesting movie.

It is so sad, I am literally a 6'1 tall girl with anxiety but cannot relate to this stupid movies in any way. Why can't they make a good movie people can relate to?
@Overseer2579
@Overseer2579 2 жыл бұрын
Because that’s not what the people are watching. People are drawn to crap about toxic teen characters with toxic relationships and which preach toxic morals to very impressionable minors, as opposed to actual GOOD teen romance movies with HEALTHY morals and GOOD characters that you can ACTUALLY sympathize with and relate to. Some examples: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Spectacular Now, The Edge of Seventeen, Never Been Kissed, Love, Simon
@rosiegerry

@@Overseer2579 oh I absolutely love the perks of being a wallflower, it's my favorite book and an amazing movie, I could relate so much with Charlie. I didn't like the edge of seventeen that much, idk why, but I think I will try watching it again. And love Simon is also a very cute movie I really like. Thanks for the tips :) But yes I'm really sad, that bad not relateble toxic movies are so common & liked :/

Come on, I'm 6" and, sure, people will often comment on my height and when I was younger kids were not always nice about it but these movies make it out to be a living hell. It's not the end of the world and the movies are actually portraying tall girls as absolute anomalies that should feel so so bad about their height. It's doing the opposite of what they think they're doing. I'm tall as fuck but I look like one badass bitch, no need to feel sorry for me.
