you need some sort of engraving of poncho on the boat , maybe with the names of all the volunteers and boatwrights around it to commemorate the rebuild. it has been an epic voyage so far arguably as historic as the boat its self.

Leo, I've had a look at pictures of Tally Ho's historical gaff rigging ( no clear, close-up detailed photos I could find). When I saw your newly installed mast with the bow-facing white "H" shaped protrusions about 3/4 of the way up, I thought: "Hey, they installed the mast backwards. Isn't that supposed to be the attachment point hardware for the main gaff-rigged sail? Shouldn't that be aft-facing?" Please explain to me how I am wrong. What is that for? Thank you.

@manfredagne6738 Жыл бұрын
@@lawrenceallen8096Those "protrusions" will secure the (lower end of) the topmast. Traditionally, and I assume for very practical reasons too, the topmast sits forward of the lower mast. I'm not sure about yachts, but in larger sailing vessels, the upper masts can be lowered by the crew when preparing for bad weather. With the gaff and boom at the aft side of the mast, the topmast needs to go down (and up) at the fore.

I‘ve been following Tally Ho from day 1, well, the first video that is. WHAT a transformation, what a milestone! What years of work, wisdom and professionalism put into this project, all the things learned and achieved, all the people who put in their knowledge and effort. And now look at her! YES there‘s lots to do still. But she’s back to being a boat, with a mast! For someone who‘s seen the 1$ purchase and the state she was in at the time, this is nothing short of a miracle, and I guess it’s the same for Leo and the crew. Those two coins are a perfect choice. I wrecked my back lifting a 400 lb wheelbarrow load of cement bags when I was your age. After that I dug out a section of my cellar, 224 wheelbarrow loads of dirt and moved them about a hundred yards each. Three years ago rebuilt the house after the biggest tree in the yard fell on it causing 8o thousand in damage. two years ago built a beautiful shed. 1 year ago put a new rubber roof on the house and this year building new stairs, cement and pressure treated wood, for my parents old house. Your back is probably telling you that your working to hard but it is hard to stop. It's in your blood to work hard as it is in mine. The bad news, your back will go out occasionally. The good news, you will still be able to work hard and have a wonderful life. I'm 75. You and everyone involved it making this project a reality are truly a class act.

For your back pain: Run a hot bath. Put one pint of epsoms salt in the bath a🎉nd dissolve. Get in the bath ( with a clock on the side) submerge so neck and head above water. When the clock reads 45 minutes (very important 45 minutes) stand up. Your body will be translucent, having absorbed the magnesium into your skin outside in. You will then go to bed and will sleep without pain for over eight hours. When you awake your energy levels will be high and pain free. Everybody should know this little gem. Bless you Leo and all those involved.

Even the failed attempt to pour a ballast keel turned into the best keel possible for you. Your channel is the best one on KZbin, it's smashing. Seeing the long top mast laying aside Tally Ho, it almost frightens me how tall she will be and how much power/force the wind will put on the sails, the rigging etc.. 2) The coins are a really great choice, Sir! Additionally: Amongst others the lion on the British coin also stands for Leo! 3) The shown favourite outdoor activities made me chuckle quite a bit! Your advertising is simply the best. For the rest of my life I will not be able to forget Lady Paddy with her long, curled wood shavings as hair. 😁 Hilarious! Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved people and parrot (it was nice to see Pancho again).

I was one who mentioned the "coin in the mast" idea. It was not just me, for many know the heritage of such things. I see the symbolism of the coins chosen. 2000 years of history, of planting the mast, is a wonderful treat to me.

The story of Tally Ho should be the perfect example of quality boat building for EVERY marine school and boat building apprenticeship round the world. Very well done Leo and your exceptionally talented crew

You have already moved on to the next task on the to-do-list for a boat builder and a Captain but this had to be really EXCITING to see completed. I have been following you since the beginning and get pretty excited myself seeing Tally Ho nearing the end of the re-building process. I am starting to get excited to see her in the water and Sailing. What an amazing voyage seeing her being re-built! Thank you for the amazing, funny inspirational and educational content. You have done an AMAZING job putting each one of these videos together in telling the story of Tally Ho's rebirth. Also, what an amazing crew you have had over the years helping with the build. Each and everyone is a master in their own right as the jobs they have taken on and completed.

Leo, I found this when You was still working alone and Tally Ho was a mess. Now: Tally Ho looks like a boat again! She WILL go to sea again! Everybody remember the lofting floor? This is why. And I love how Y´all made her come to be. The most amazing guy I remember was the White Oak saw mill. There´s so much good karma in this build.
