LOL, the cut-a-way was great. I really was starting to go nooooooo! :) Thanks for the laugh Rob.

I wouldn't have to worry about writing on the ships. My boys will gladly do that for me when I'm not looking.

The OCD running joke made me chuckle. For the stats, to avoid writing on the ships, could you not print off a bunch of little chits like 4 3 3 5 2 2 6 1 1 then put them on the ships as a better visual reference, so you don't have to keep referencing back to the stat sheet? Not sure about how could do the shields better, but that would help with moving, etc?

The game is really great, easy to learn, difficult to really master, quick to play. Big battles are still really playable.

Awesome that you're giving Talon some coverage Rob - I played a few games of it at DTC 2015 and loved it. Also, the GMT guys there were awesome and made me a lifelong fan of the company. However, I think people might be putting too much stock into the writing on the ships thing :P It all actually wipes off quite well and even I started to just use my finger to wipe it after awhile. Also, it's nice to look on the board and easily see who's damaged, arcs exposed, etc All in all, the game is about maneuvering - it takes awhile to charge your weapons, so it's not about constantly shooting at any range. However, each of the games I played always came away with some story! :D

Hi, your explanation of turns is incorrect. A turn radius of 3 does not mean you can turn 3 on 3 impulses in a turn. It means you must move in a straight line for 3 hexes after turning before you can turn again. Therefore, a greater turn radius score means your ship is less manoeuvrable, not more.

Great to finally see this out, I'm a huge Space Empires fan and can't wait to play the two together. This looks almost identical to Imperial Crusade Armada, I had lots of fun marking my ship cards in that game lol.

2 questions: Is this just a 2 player game? Can you build your own fleet with a point system or can you only play scenarios with a given setup?
@kingbobes8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Mahn....This game is for 2 to 6 players.
@nedrycasey8 жыл бұрын
+Michael it plays 2-6. There is a point system you can use to build fleets.

That was a great video. I bought the game as soon as I saw this video. Thank you Rob. P.S. I don't have OCD but I'm not writing on my ship either.

Rob, You have found your niche on the channel! Miniatures and GMT/Hex and Counter Games. I believe those are your "wheel house" as far as this channel inks concerned! Because I know you love feedback and don't take it as. "Negative criticism" like many if is would. Lol I have one suggestion for you. If you can speed up the delivery just a little more it will be perfect. There are still a little too much "pausing" for my tastes. I have a suggestion. Watch a few of Rahdo's videos, then go back and watch them at 1/4 normal speed and try to imitate that. LOL. Seriously. I don't know if there is another human being on earth that can talk as fast as Rahdo. Haha. And I'm certainly not suggesting you try to match his speed. But let's use baseball as an analogy. You watching and imitating Rahdo while off camera is akin to a slugger in the on-deck circle using a huge bat or putting a few "donuts" (weights) on his bat to take practice swings. Understand where I am coming from??? ;) U da man!

I saw this game, and I too had to wait and wait. It reminds me of Star Fleet Battles, with bigger ships.

Rob, I am so glad you got to this review right away. Krohn is a talented designer who really knows how to makes his mechanics evocative. Now I need to find some money to buy this things. Please don't doubt that you are contributing to the community of gaming.

One more thing. When I was a kid and we didn't know something called OCD even existed. I would have made copies of those sheets and then written on the copies. Seriously. I would never have even wrote on one of the original sheets!! Now that I am older and I know what OCD is and can recognize when I am succumbing to it, I do much better. I still probably wouldn't write on the ships. But I would be ok writing on the original sheets. ;) (I wish some of this was a joke but I am dead serious.). Lol

This comes several decades too late for me. BattleTech already provides a better implementation for aerospace combat and that even allows for combat against 'Mechs (plus, Land-Air 'Mechs are frikking awesome). That said, this comes in a single package, so if you don't own BattleTech and are only interested in space combat I suppose Talon will do in a pinch.
