WOW!!! That's the best sound demo of the 50th Superstar kit I've heard so far!! WOW!!!!

Thanks! Glad you think so. Always a fine balance between enhancing what's already there to showcase the drums strengths, and not going over board with processing. Cheers!

Wooow! Amazing Superstar by Tama, finally they brought it back after a couple off 'missfits' in that serie for years (sorry to say🤭). Thanks for sharing this

80s Tama just had the special sauce. Even their lower end kits just have a gritty but mellow vibe. My old Zola coat swingstars sound so good when actually tuned.

This is a beautiful sounding kit !! I wonder if they could add a 14×14 floor tom to this. Either way, its a great kit plus I like that the bass drum is 14" deep.

If they offered a 14x14 for 2 up 2 down, I'd have already ordered one.

Thx. Hoping TAMA also does the Superstar reissue justice by releasing a power tom kit.

Is that the Cherry or the Mahogany finish?... hard ti be certain in that lighting.

It’s the super mahogany, but as you noted, with a lot of light. You can see it clearer (darker) from the side angle.

Outstanding demo! You let the drums breathe so it's makes it easier for the viewer to appreciate them. Do you recall the Evans drumhead you used for the snare?

I don't understand why this kit was discontinued. It's not like TAMA has a different birch kit.
@davidmultimedia2024 Жыл бұрын
Yes, TAMA had a different all birch kit model, which is the Silverstar.
@femaledeer Жыл бұрын
@@davidmultimedia2024 Silverstone is cheaper without die-cast hoops
@davidmultimedia2024 Жыл бұрын
True, but even though it has a lower price and no die-cast hoops (which is not what EVERYBODY likes anyway).. it's still an amazing kit, especially once you replaced the heads. I owned the Silverstar for a while (and so did Anton). I'm pretty sure TAMA did consider the Silverstar good enough to replace the Superstar at the time. Die-Cast hoops are more expensive and makes the kit higher priced.. but it's not about ''quality''. The Silverstar had more of a ''vintage'' feel in a modern envelope. Having wraps instead of a more expensive finish also helped reducing the cost without affecting sound quality. @@femaledeer

Tama fan here. This demo sounds like he's playing with Rods, even though from what I can tell, looks like regular sticks. Makes me think the audio was heavily processed. Or maybe this drummer is crazy good & has a secret technique 😛. Guess I'll wait for DCP to give a legit demo 😉. Pretty expensive for a birch set. Still, I like it !
@antonjamesolsson Жыл бұрын
Hello Tama fan, or Dilan if that's your given name? No need to write about me in third person, as you can see I'm the publisher of this video, name is in the title. We might have different ideas about how rods sound...... that's okay! The sound is processed somewhere between my own skills as a mixer, my preferences as a drummer, a short turnaround time and working within the constrictions of a one man operation. All for better or for worse. I've stated this in the past and will once more. My videos are not intended to serve as a flat reference. They are in all simplicity an extension of my tastes in music, drums, audio processing, lighting & cinematography - where I want to make something that I like. That's what's "legit" to me.
@dilankarun917211 ай бұрын
@@antonjamesolsson I don't follow your channel, So I don't know what you've said in the past. My apologies. Anyway, Good to know they weren't meant to be a flat reference & had to be processed. Based on that, I'll pass on this particular TAMA set. Well played though. Good job 😉

Yes (but not the snare drums)
@markusthedrummer8143 Жыл бұрын
The best thing about these drums is the mounting system. This retro system proves that suspension mounts and all the over hyped and over priced mounting systems drums companies invent are simply marketing techniques. Yes I love my 2021 star cast tom mounts and quick-release memory locks but imo drum sounded better in the 80's with shallow bass drums, aged wood, metal on wood tom mounts, plain old triple flanged hoops, and drums heads with less plastic. I'm leaning towards picking up the acrylic version but might get the birch and acrylic. I appreciate Tama so much, I believe they make the all around best hardware and most affordable high quality drums.
@stephenlandry90613 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong with mounting right to the shell , actually they’re more sturdy this way
