i randomly clicked on your video and dig your playing! i'm chinese/swedish american, from oakland, ca. been playing and producing for a long time. i grew up on early 90's thrash drummers like vinnie paul, john tempesta, iggor cavalera, and louie clemente, then got into hip-hop and downtempo. now i produce drum n bass and do remixes. my all-time favorite drummers are tim alexander, danny carey, and john bonham, but steve smith is the best drummer i've seen live. just wanted 2 share. peace dude.

+Coconut Crab Or try practice a little bit with a metronome and tighten his technique! It's easy to learn how to play fast, especially when you playing ddrums or trigged bassdrum. The most important thing is to be able to keep it tight and focused. But he definitely has potential to be even better!

+Thomas MacGillavry As far as i know, triggers are not necessarily sensitive on dynamics. So you can play fast but quiet, but the trigger gives a tone like you would hit the drum with full impact.

Yeah, it's much appreciated. I have the iron cobras and the speedcobras and had an eliminator before too and some DW's a long time ago. But I still think it's more my own technique and not the pedals. For instance I had a fast 16th note triplet part nailed for one of my band's songs and now I can't do it anymore. It seems my muscle memory comes and goes. Lately I am working in relaxing the ankles to get that bouncing feel and let the pedal work by itself, but it comes and goes.

Well thanks a lot for that, glad you liked it. Unfortunately right now we're almost ready to record my band's first album and there's some steady fast 16th note sections I haven't tackled yet and I am stressed as hell because I am afraid studio time will come and I am not gonna find a way around that issue. I don't want the compositions to suffer because my lack of ability you know, it's very frustrating that I have so much trouble with this.

hey sir, i have a pretty bad pair of low end yamaha pedals and i can play pretty decent on them. play with your pedal settings until it's as comfortable as you can get it and start practicing technique. start slow and build yourself up. a great way to build speed is to put on a metronome and keep raising it by 5 BPM while doing 16th notes on the bass drum. and keep raising and raising and practice the rate that you start to lose control. build muscle memory. hope this helps.

I have and old sound percussion double bass pedal that I got (used, by two different people) for like 20 bucks from a friend of mine and I can do some pretty nice things with them. Although the add-on to my pearl p120p is going to be much faster and better, due to the fact that they are newer and have a better chain. Try putting some oil on it, and clean it. That keeps my SP's workin nice.

It's all about practice practice practice. Start slow-REALLY slow. I've been playing since I was 5 years old. Dad even took me for private lessons where I learned all the rudiments and basic timing. It was fun and effective. I am shopping now for my first E-set. My current kit is very old but still sounds great. My problem is that playing them scares the poop out of my 4 cats and I just won't do it. Can't wait to start up again🤣. I like the Yamaha DTX950K because you can mute the percussion from the music you're playing to. Does anyone know if other brands offer that feature?
@ArtOfRuin981

roland drums do, however the feel is more spongy on the drum heads imo. The silicon on the Yamaha is MUCH more realistic to a drum head. Plus a few bucks less, go with the Yamaha
