Exellent musicien, beau style et belle fluidité, le star walnut serait mon choix, j’adore la rondeur et la présence sur les toms

I’ve played all the top woods and top brands and Tama star walnut is the best kit I’ve ever laid sticks on and also the best most classy looking kit I’ve ever seen. Both of those combined is just an experience you just have to experience. I can’t even begin to explain the feeling of playing a Tama star kit and especially the walnut which has no rerings and more aggressive and loud and present than the thinner shelled star bubinga and star maple. Can’t go wrong with any and if you want resonance and pure tone with the slightest feathery touch and soft dynamics where the kit would respond to any tiny touch, the star maple or bubinga is for you. If you want more aggressive closer to the starclassic sound but just better and improved in every way, then go for the star walnut and tune that baby however you want and it will sound good any tuning.

I've owned over 30 kits in my years of drumming. I currently own 3 made in Germany Sonor kits including an SQ2 and the last kit I would ever sell is my Tama Star Walnut. If you can get ahold of a set of these, do it!

Hi! Please do a video featuring only the snare at different tunings! It would be great! I am torn between this Star Walnut Snare and the Star Maple. If you have played them both, how do you compare them in terms of sensitivity, feel, and volume? Thanks!!
@markusthedrummer81437 ай бұрын
That snare just grabbed my attention immediately. The toms sounded good, not sure about the floor toms. Cool that you used Paiste instead of the overused Meinl. Would love to hear these in person. Again, that snare! Oh my!
@ryandanger9333 Жыл бұрын
This snare is such an underrated one. The kick is one of the best low end beefy kicks, like a cannon, maybe clear heads would bring out a bit more snap which it needs. Got mine in indigo zen burst.

Superb sounding drums and playing, as always!!! What are your thoughts about the snare? How does it compare to the star maple and bubinga snares? Here, it sounds incredible, full, loud, and sensitive. However, in other videos, the maple and bubinga seem to have much more high-end presence and attack and more projection in the room. Since the walnut snare has no re-rings and has quite a thin shell, how does it feel to the hand? Does it play softer? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Great sounding kit!!Love your chops!! What sizes did this kit have? Out of curiousity, how do these drums match up with Gretsch USA Custom sonically? thanks for the wonderful video.

Thank you! We had a 10x8, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16, 22x16 with a matching 6.5x14 snare. Star Walnut drums have a sound unique to themselves. Closest would be maybe a Tama bubinga kit

Put this dude to demo a piece of garbage and it will sound great. I saw him playing on a 80's tama kit on this channel and i was impressed. Keep on playing on them demos. Great sound coming out of many drums.

Has Lars kicked off a trend with yellow drums?
@Rab35 Жыл бұрын
No. Peter Erskine had yellow Tama drums when he switched to Tama from DW. Will Calhoun has yellow Gretsch drums. Tony Williams had yellow Gretsch drums back in the day. Lars can certainly influence the yellow because of Metallica’s popularity.

I've never been a fan of TAMA drums. They always felt bad to me when I played them. They made me have to work too much to get anything out of them sound - wise. These drums however sound great along with the other high end STAR line shells. I still would need to play them, but sonically they sound really good..
@westcoastdrumshop Жыл бұрын
I've always felt that StarClassics and now Stars have always been effortless to get the sound to jump out. Older lines imo required heavier hitting, but that could be said for many of the drums of the '80s and early '90s
@IAmInfinitus208 Жыл бұрын
@@westcoastdrumshop Stewart Copeland even confessed those early Mahogany/Luan shells of the Imperialstars were made to be hit hard to get the right sound (like a gorilla he puts it). I got an early 80s Imperialstar and he's right. They sound much better with that boingy sustain, especially the 13x9 tom when tuned low! No wonder Neil Peart smacked the everlasting life outta them with his Superstars and the eventual Artstar prototypes of the time! I wish Tama would get the Orange coloring back in the Star catalog again, or maybe even a Star Birch kit since that wood was practically the shell everyone raved back in the 80's with the Superstars!
@westcoastdrumshop Жыл бұрын
@@IAmInfinitus208 If you really wanted the orange color, I bet Tama could custom make it for you. I own two Imperialstar kits, two Starclassic kits, Granstar Customs, and Artstar IIs myself. The Starclassics are the most sensitive, followed up the Imperialstars with thin re-rings. More musical than expected! I also have Imperialstars with straight shells, and those speak pretty easily. Imperialstars also had a fat re-ring version, and I found those to be less sensitive.

@@westcoastdrumshop what is your favorite Tama kit? Mine was Granstar that I really miss. Which you prefer, Tama Granstar\Superstar or Yamaha 8000\RTC?
@westcoastdrumshop Жыл бұрын
@@doronharati3451 This is Will. I personally own a Granstar Custom shell bank, and a Granstar II kit, among many other Tama kits and snares. I love Yamaha RCs, and I believe both kits to be some of the best for my particular tastes. I go Granstar anytime I can, but lots of gigs don't call for that look or that sound.
