Made this for supper tonight. It was wonderful. I skipped the chili powder but kept the cayenne and cumin and all I can say is yum-yum. This was easy and adding the black beans was genius. Thank-you for sharing this recipe with your followers.

@@kevinleejacobs1364 , by the way, the cornbread topping is good enough to just as straight cornbread. The buttermilk adds to the flavor and I love the bubbly texture of it. And I love sweet cornbread. This is better than Jiffy.

Thank you Kevin. I will try recipe this, but use a Vegetarian option instead of the Beef mince. So possibly Brown Lentils or Falafel mix? I will experiment. You make it all look so easy and fun. The Corn Bread looks interesting to try as well. I have been doing a particular Meditation since 1985 (same one as Jennifer Aniston, Tom Hanks, Hugh Jackman, Cameron Diaz, Ellen DeGeneres). You sound very calm and relaxed and easy to listen to. Good vibrations.....😀! Muchos Gracias x Mary

I've made this tamale pie before, but not with beans and cilantro which sounds fabulous! Can't wait to try this again your way. Thanks Kevin!
@chkpnt-fq5rv4 жыл бұрын
True masa harina would probably be better. It’s been nixalated and therefore you have access to all the natural nutrients within the cornmeal. It’s also the type of cornmeal used in tamales so the taste would be more similar to actual tamales.

Hi Kevin, I love your channel. I made tamale pie today with what I’ve got in my pantry. Missing the beef but I had ground lamb instead. Missing cilantro but I got jalapeño. Missing cheese, no substitute. Missing cayenne, I threw in some red bell peppers I tell you, it’s seriously amazingly delicious However, it took 45 minutes to cook the middle crust in a 9” Pyrex pie dish with my convection oven. Thank you for the recipe and showing how to make it. 👍 many thumbs up

Topping should be made of masa harina as used in a real tamale. Easier to find these days with Hispanic populations so widespread. Different texture and taste than cornmeal, and nutritionally better.

I just made one with a savory corn bread, using chicken stock and it was far too salty for my British tastes, the whole pie was also very dry, I think it was because the tamales are usually steamed, maybe if I had steamed it in the oven it would have been better.

Dude, good video, but don't talk to the viewers like they're children. It's very off putting. Just talk to the viewers like you would talk to a friend that you're teaching a recipe to. That would be much more appealing. I realize what you're trying to do. You're trying to put emotion in your voice to try to make the video more appealing, but it just isn't working. It's coming out wrong. You sound like a magician putting on a magic show for kids. Good recipe though.
