Doesn’t matter where you get your maza. What matters is the touch of the person. You dont need to get it precisely at Amapola. People and the news just make it a big deal.

You're right, but Amapolas' masa is better than what you would get like at a Vallarta store, for example...I've had good tamales from both but Amapolas masa is a step above from the rest imo...it's not a huge step if you know how to make good tamales but they are definitely better with Amapola masa imo....would I wait in a huge line just for their masa?...probably not, unless I really want to impress someone.

My favorite tamales: Corn 🌽, Raisin and the green chile and cheese... My mom makes the red chilli and pork and mole, my friend from mexiCali makes heres with just veggies.

That's merely your opinion. Mexican pastries are considered awful, to those of other cultures . Dry, bland, utterly unimaginative. Majority of people would prefer a creative, scrumptious Viennese, French or Italian dessert any day.
