i grew up watching gymnasts, and i always wanted to be one (but my dad never let me)...i was 10 when i watched the magnificent 7 and was like i wanna do that one day! now i watch gymnastics today and think what the hell happened to the artistry! too many sycophants drooling over Simone Biles -- of course, she's got the athleticism, but the artistry??? the dance??? where the hell did it go??? wish gymnastics still maintained its roots in dance, but it's lost to corporate sponsors and this capitalistic/competitive mentality of pushing the body to the limits, regardless of how detrimental it is to the body in the long run...I recently discovered Tamara Lazakovich and what strikes me is the -- dare i say it -- seemingly somatic execution of her gymnastics!!! such a shame she passed away so young

+ThorAdorator In don't miss that kind of floor routine. Of course it's beautiful, but to me it's not gymnastics, it's ballet. Which is also a very respectable discipline, but if I want to see ballet, I just go to the opera. I really like today's gymnastics, I like high level acrobatics, and I think I would have been so bored as a coach 40 years ago with so much artistic and dance ! Or maybe I would love to go back in time, but keeping all my memory and my knowledge, when you could be an Olympic champion with the acrobatic skills of a current regional level gymnast ! :)

She's doing this on a wooden floor, granted slowly, and landing every move. Meanwhile today's gymnasts work on a springy floor, and slip, wobble, or fall all over the place. The artistry of gymnastics should have never been sacrificed for the purpose of points and difficulty. It's so boring and sad to watch now.

Lyuda wasn't so bad, I think she won silver because she had a super hard routine for those years, But I think Lazakovich was better than both(Lyuda, Olya) in artistry and choreo; I mean, this routine was so clean, also I'd give the gold medal indeed.

Если бы онс была первым номером в сборной,она бы взяла 1 место. В фильме ,,Новенькая" она техничнее и интереснее Турищевой. Латынина много навредила,будучи старшим тренером.
