I believe in the friendship Code I had a friend that we had been friends since we were 12 yrs. Old and called her my sister. It has been 8yrs. since we have spoken she did something that wasnt right toward my mother but it was no big deal an apology would have fixed that right away, but no she preferred to lie and stop answering my calls. I have seen two of her sister's and they ask me have to your friend lately? I politely say no a haven't. I would ever tell her business or the situation that brought our friendship to a end.I have 2 friends. I only prayed and ask God to send me a friend....Want he do it!!!!

I had to learn to keep my personal business to myself and my circle small when my status became more visible. Jealousy and envy are often consequences when you have your stuff together. You will even be hated on for the way others admire you. Being educated, affluent, having a happy home life, romantic success, or being physically attractive brings out the ugly (evil eye) in others. It will make you a target and a threat. Less drama when you keep your business and personal life private.

I can relate Tami. I too HAD a friendship. It was 23 years and this chic decided to tell me that from time to time she finds herself jealous of me. It is amazing to me how women can take the time to develop 10, 15, 20 year friendships ,and in the blink of an eye all of that can fall to the wayside over the smallest of things. Some of us put more into our friendship with our female counterparts then we do our men. Why is it some of our friendships last longer than our personal relationships with our partners? 4 things that work for me when dealing with friends of quality: 1: speaking up when I feel disrespected instead of letting it go or holding it in. 2: Pick and choose your battles not everything needs to be addressed. 3:Holding that person accountable for their actions and vice versa 4: laughter and being able to take jabs at each other without taking things so seriously. Like i said my best friend is 70 and i hope to get another 20 out of her, my mom is deceased so she fills that void too. Im telling Tammy ain't nothing like having someone you can trust and depend on, that is my ride or die...she has seen me go through it with these men, by my bedside when i was sick, lost of a child, all my crying on the phones late nights early mornings with whatever. Hard to find good people Hard to find... When i find i hold on, cause it is rare, like that flower amongst weeds.

Then co workers started telling me how she was bad mouthing me to them (she used to be a co worker) . I have a plethora of knowledge of all her shenanigans and still kept quiet. I agree and live by the friend code but a person be all insecure and sometimes feeling defeated and embarrassed about whatever situation caused the friendship to part ways so they tell all your deep secrets to feel that they have one up on you when in actuality doing that makes them look untrustworthy to others. When you come across people you can trust and depend on it is truly a diamond in the ruff. There should be a code whether we are talking or not. Whatever discretions we had between us should go in silence as well, but unfortunately that isn't the case most of the time. It is quality over quantity as far as I'm concerned. Im 45 and my best friend is a lovely 70 year old woman with whom i have befriended for 20 years now. I had a childhood best friend from 8 grade all the way up to adulthood our kids were familiar with each other as well as our families, but when we stopped it all came to an abrupt stop. The failing of the relationship can affect others that were close as well. Just dealing with people is a gamble period. Sometimes the universe has a way of discarding certain people from your life, funny how when s*** hits the fan they transform into their rightful image. I agree Tammy. It's like a break -up and if the season for that relationship has ended, just move on. You don't have to hate the person, its just simply time to move in opposite directions. The season for that time is OVER! What satisfaction comes out of telling their most intimate secrets? You have to question if that person was really ever a real " friend". I always say " keep your ENEMIES CLOSE....but your friends CLOSE". You already know that your enemies are out to hurt you. But your friends can hurt you more because, YES! they know your intimate secrets and they are the closes thing to you. Its betrayal on a whole new level.

This is why I dig Tami and have since the 90's. Loyalty is a must! I have a few former friends that I have kept their business to myself. I was honest when people asked me why we fell out though. I did not go into great detail, but gave a summary of what happened that cause the bond to break.
