In this video, I am building tamiya 1/48 grumman f-14d tomcat VF-23 “Black Lions” Scale Aircraft.

This Kit was souvenir from my friend. He bought this from Japan!! I was so excited to built this. It took me 40 days to complete this. I only used parts purely contained in this kit in this video.

Did the washers and screws come with it? If not, what's the size of them would you recommend? Overall, it was awesome work.

Love the videos! Hey is XF-54 Dark sea grey the color used for the main fuselage color after the pre shading?

Thank you for your comment and compliments! I used X-19 sky grey first and then XF-53 neutral grey for some panels to create uneven look of the fuselage. I hope it answered the question, thanks!

Could you tell me what thinner medium you use with Tamiya acrylics and in what ratio? Do you thin differently for hand brushing as opposed to airbrushing? Do you typically not prime the parts or wash them before applying paint? What a great looking job on the F-14!

Thank you for your comment! I just use normal alcohol which is available at grocery store. Thin by 50% to 70%. For hand blush, it would be much thinner like 200% or more. I wash body by alcohol before paint. I use Mr. color surfacer 1000 thanks!!

I have two from Tamiya almost the same. Both have that canopy problem. BTW waht manufacturer preduces the cockpit ? And .. congratulations !!

Thank you for your comment!! Yes it’s possible to build with brush, some people do that even though I haven’t done yet. It would take time because paint and dry it then adding another layer takes a lot of time. Check out this video! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5nUk6B3ZdOMY5o

@@platoki thanks a lot for the video! I bought the same exact model and I also got a bunch of tools for it, as well as cement glue. Still need to get the paint, (I’m thinking I’ll need at least 10 different paint colors) brushes, and puddy. I can’t wait to start it and even though I’m a beginner I’ll do everything I can to make it look good :) the Tomcat is my favorite plane so it’ll definitely be worth all the hard work

Your model looks like a model... paint overspray everywhere shows its scale, and all the decals have adhesive stains. :(
