I haven't built any models since I was a good bit younger., I'm fairly certain the canopies were glue. A lot of model plane met their end via a pellet rifle, bottle rockets, or etc. Watching your videos in today's crazy world has made me realize that boredom can be solved with some hobby supplies and just a little time... keep up the good work... personally, I think you should try a submarine but I'm okay with the WWII military aircraft...

Beautiful and inspiring work mate! I've got the decals for Johnson's P-47D-1 'IN THE MOOD' in 1/32....this helps me to get cracking to get that 1/32 Trumpeter kit...

sorry for asking but what wash did you use for the belly was it product or did you use your own mix
@TheInnerNerd3 жыл бұрын
Don't be sorry for asking. The wash I used for the underside on this one was a dark/medium grey mix of my own oils. I would suggest AMMO Blue Dirt wash if you're looking for an off-the-shelf wash of the same colour. That's what I use now on my most recent builds and is a very useful colour for grey aircraft parts. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

Absolutely great paint job but the seams of the fuselage... why not fill and sand them nicely on the belly side ?
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. To be honest my sanding, filling & re-scribing skill isn't great so didn't want to loose detail underneath by sanding it all out 😔
@MartinGraeff8 жыл бұрын
Ah, I see, well then there's no harm done in any case ;). Though I still think the model is so much worth the effort in the near future. Maybe a way of practicing would do... Thanks for the reply.

Hi Inner...What is the size of nozzle and pressure you using to paint. Making the cockpit whith PE parts and doing such a nice job on rivets. I think you can also fill thos seams whith a bit of Mr. 500 and sended flush. Cheers 🍻 and keep up with a good work.
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Vladan Covic Hi Vladan and thank you. I use 0.35mm nozzle @ 22psi. Yes seams are not my strong point if I'm honest, I'm more of a painter ☺ but I am trying to improve.

Ah shit - I have not watched the last part yet! Glad you made Bud Mahurin´s aircraft. I like that one. Thinking about building it myself - even though i rarely use the kit´s own decals. He, probably, shot down one of Adolf Galland´s brothers during one of the Schweinfurt raids.. They found him close to Liege, two months latre, iirc....

Looks really good. Wondering why you blackbased and mottled the underside but stuck with tradional preshading up top?
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Lord Thanks you. The underside would be more worn/dirty especially with the lighter neutral grey. The top is a darker shade, olive green, so would show less dirt and not be exposed the same to ground dirt etc.
@MrOpiatesoul8 жыл бұрын
Thanks that makes sense. I usually go the other way around (matter of perspective and not a criticism at all) because I like the mottle look to simulate paint fade rather than wear and tear. Either way both looks great it seems. Nice job again!
@avenger69447 жыл бұрын
You go all through that work but don't take care of the seams on belly and back with putty and sand paper ? Nice work, but hey why skip what could be a show killer ? The plastic seam on the tailwheel etc etc
@TheInnerNerd5 жыл бұрын
Hope you enjoy my newer (and better) videos where I've learned how to use putty ☺ everyone has to start somewhere and filling was't my strongest point at the start. If you have to be amazing in order to upload anything on here the I must have missed that guideline...

@@TheInnerNerd I use ultra thin CA glue. Putty shrinks over time. I drop the CA glue on a used exacto knife blade (see, there's a use for them!), and apply the glue to the seams that need filled using a sewing needle. :)
@robertthorpe21794 жыл бұрын
Did you paint it all black and then all grey just to outline the panels in black?
@TheInnerNerd4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you. No it’s a technique called black basing where you use the contrast of a black base coat to create random patches of tones on the camouflage colour. Multiple layers of this builds up a more varied surface and yes in turn creates deeper shading on the panel lines if you paint in a panel-by-panel fashion to emphasise them. You can see this in action on my F/A-18 build where the effect is more profound

I heard this is the greatest 1/48 ww2 plane from tamiya! Should i get this and a tamiya bf109? Or a airfix 1/72 he111 or revell ju88 1/72 with 2 ww2 1/72 fighters? I want more views, what are some popular models? Cuase the models im building are random. Should i get 2 1/48 fighters, or 1 1/72 bomber, and 2 1/72 fighters? I want to build a 1/72 bomber and a 1/48 fighter, but they dont match and it will just be random
@bigricebowl32605 жыл бұрын
What ratio of paint to thinner do you use and what model airbrush did you use on this kit? Awesome build by the way!
@TheInnerNerd5 жыл бұрын
I use around a 50/50 mix on all my paints unless its for pre/post shading where I thin to around 70% thinner

Very nice build, great job on the paint and weathering. Couple of questions though, what happened to the decals on right side of fuselage and why didn't you fill in those seams?
@TheInnerNerd8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The decal was ripped off with masking tape which tore off both the varnish sealant layer as well as part of the decal. After a considerable amount of effing and jeffing I decided not to repare and call it 'battle damage' hence the missing pieces. Which seams are you referring to to be filled?
@ThePlasticModeler8 жыл бұрын
I think he's referring to the top and bottomside seamlines where the fuselage halves meet
@TheMojophotos8 жыл бұрын
Correct, thank you.
@arvinlienardi8848 жыл бұрын
does the decal react with softening solution easily?

Can you do an outtake vid? Y’know, all the moments when you’re carefully brush-painting detail and your hand quivers a bit and Damn! And you have to let it dry and then go over it. Or the over sprays, or the times you laboriously mix paint, put it in your airbrush, start spraying then Gah! Too thick! So you have to dismantling your brush, carefully cleaning it for the 11billionth time. Or the oil wash doesn’t come off well, or too thick, or you find the oil thinner is taking off the varnish and Argh! You must have those moments too, right....? It would make me feel better, besides watching these and thinking “gahhhh this guy is awesome and I suck” :D

Man you are such a good painter, why didn't you fill that nasty seam line on the belly?It is almost sad to see it on such a well paonted model.Nevertheless nice Jug.Regards.
@TheInnerNerd7 жыл бұрын
Hi Michał Frąszczak thank you for the comment. At this point my skill with the filler wasn't too good so I decided to leave the seam in rather than risk messing it up more than fixing it! On my more recent models seam line are dealt with now ☺
