When I was a kid around 1985 I used to have a Tamiya brochure with all of the different buggies in it. I used to sit and stare at all of the action shots in amazement. Thanks for taking me back to how I felt at that time.

Love it this should have been the official advert for the car they would have sold tons. And people moan about the Hotshot suspension not being up to it, But it seems to work pretty damn well in that vid. got mine at home waiting to be built and gold wheels on order lol And just bought my boy a grasshopper which was my first rc when I was 10. love they brought these back.

Nice buggy, it deserves to be built with a ball bearing kit & the Tamiya gt tuned 25t motor (Tamiya ESC motor limit).I'm using a Tamiya rz 23t super stock motor, 13t steel pinion gear & a 7.2v 3300mah traxxas battery. Gps speed was 38kph with 13t pinion & 44kph with a 15t pinion. Both of those motors have more torque than stock motors, good for a heavy 4x4 vintage buggy.

How did you get your front suspension to work? I just finished build on a re-re Hotshot, and the front suspension sits squat, and when depressed, it bottoms out and stays down. I read up online and many people seem to state that this is a problem with the hotshots with monoshocks. But in your video, the front wishbones are pushed all the way up and they actually work!
@Tamor709 жыл бұрын
+Sage Kim Hi there, thanks for your comment & question. I try to answer: first, my chassis is 100% Re-re as well Second, perhaps it helps if you adjust the spring (strong enough) on the front damper. Mine is, eventhough it works, quite soft & slow. Hope you can fix it on yours.... best regards

Hi there, thanks for your great comment! To your questions: I simply used kit's content, so Mabuchi Motor 540SH, common ESC and no extra (ball-) bearings and it goes VERY well. I'm sure you could use brushless, since the chassis and gearing I think is very stable. But I am not into brushless for Tamiya kits (so far), therefore I can't give any advise which one to use. I hope you'll find your best setup and you'll have fun anyway :-) best regards

I’m by no means a tech wizard, but had to buy this 1985 wonder. Still the coolest buggy ever designed. It’s so mean. Other than servo and battery boxes what kind of paint and oil etc. is essential for the build? Please advice me - thanks!

Hi Martin! Thank you for your comment. And congratulation for your purchase, very good choice, 'cause it IS A MEAN vehicle, very cool too drive...- So, you're asking me for extra stuff for the built? Paint, yes: Best, you're going to use Tamiys Spray, for this polycarbonate body, you use the "PS"-Sprays (so for red: PS-2) - this is in the manual mentioned, for the plastic parts, such as driver figure, you use the X- or XF- colors by Tamiya (or any other for plastic parts paint). Oil: should be all included in the kit, no additional (normally) needed. I hope you have a ESC (electronic speed controller) for the "electrics". I think that's about it to make it running.... Maybe you started already, but anyway: ENJOY all of it, building, running, repair (hope not...) and just to play with it :-) best regards, Daniel
