TAMIYA PORSCHE 959 - How's it hold up after 30 years?

In this video series I am getting my Dad’s vintage Tamiya Porsche 959 back up and running.

Turns out, this little RC car held up quite well after 30+ years. In this video I take you through the car at a high-level and assess the damage its' sustained after years of bashing and then sitting in the box.
Then be sure and check out the rest of the episodes where I will eventually bring it back to running condition, with a lot of TLC and expensive hard-to-find parts!

Found you because of one of the 4-Tec videos (I have one I'm getting back on the road ) Ultimately those twist ties lasted 30ish years, I'm not so sure you should be complaining about doing like that 😂. I have a Novak Rooster too, I'm not using it but it was on my 4-Tec from the moment I bought it from the hobby shop. Back in 99.

@@JohnBattistini00 just waiting on wheels and tires I just ordered. I'm impatient now, because those were bought on ebay, so I'll probably spend more money on Amazon prime because I'm a moron for not ordering there in the first place 😂 It's just a "few" dollars, that makes it ok. Right?

Bro you don’t even know what a gem u have.. looks like it’s in fair condition.. that’s a Technigold motor.. Tamiya’s hottest brushed motor of that time,, such a fun kit,, Mine is 100 percent cherry and with the gouging going on EBay I spent 1100 on a 3d printer and swapped out the original pieces so I can bash like the good old days.. not going to pay 1200 for a body.. not going to pay 300 for suspension arms.. the kit is worth 865 dollars and cracks me up to see the same ones on eBay fir the last three years asking 2700-3000,, cool vid though

@@JohnBattistini00 no doubt! I’m hoping Tamiya Re-Releases it next year! Thank god for 3D printing,, it’s keeping the parts to almost bearable

@@JohnBattistini00 it’s looking promising for sure,, the re-releases for 2021 are high priced kits I think the highest I saw was around 850 so Tamiya is putting the goods back out. What they should do is take preorders with a profit cap and when that cap is met then they start producing,, win win for everyone. We might see something like that
