Make sure the gears have just a little slop in the mesh. You never want it tight or plastic spur will strip in a matter of a few runs. I have had the stock plastic spur in my tt02b for years and have over 20 packs of 2s lipo runs through it. Never stripped anything. 3900kv 23 pinion with stock plastic spur. Running 34mph gps verified and bashing.

As soon as you ran it That pinion and spur mesh sounds way too tight.

This was really cool, John! I watched it on the TV first, and then hurried to subscribe on the phone, and now I managed to watch the video again. I didn't find many good videos on this topic so was happy to watch yours, you talked us through this really well! Looks really cool, the body you did, it is similar colour scheme to what I often like to paint. Sadly links to both the body and the conversion kit you used, they are gone by now, but it gives me a good idea how to do this... I haven't even bought an old Nitro buggy yet, but there are plenty on offer for cheap, so if not earlier, then definitely for next summer! Like I said, I subscribed. I will try watch some of your other videos also later. Have a good one!

Your mesh was way to tight even on the bench at the start. The sound and fast slowing of motor was a dead giveaway. The high speed set is fine but buy a 48dp spur and pinion as gearing options will be much wider than the mod6 I think it comes with. I run a 10.5t brushless on mine with 62t 48dp spur and 28t pinion and it runs beautiful. Remember to make sure you enough backlash on the gears for them to rotate freely. But good vid dude and keep em coming

Finally looking to build one of my dream cars, which is the TT-02 with the full aluminum kit. The aluminum kits still around at a good price, thankfully. Then i'll get the stainless-steel screw kit, some good sealed bearings and tires. Haven't thought about electronics yet, but that'll be easy. Probably just go with something beefy and reliable for the added weight.

Thats a nice looking build. I built a Team Associated DR10. Did alot of suspension upgrades and steering upgrades, tires, and quite a few other things too. went to a 4000kv motor and a 2.5 to 1 gear ratio and was able to pull a 2.83 sec ¼ mile @ 54mph, on a crappy 2s battery. Looking forward to seeing how this car runs. Thanks for the great videos.

I have a tt02 Put a Corvette body on it and I used the motor and striped the spur gear. I'm currently upgrading everything anodized.

Spur was too tight. You could tell by the drag brake it was getting.

Im not a lipo brushless man but did try this.....................tt01 raven 10tx2 67t spur 22t pinion fast tt01.

I just bought a brand new never ran L8IGHT and it came with a brand new O.S. .21 but I think I would be happier with the same setup you have. I have a brand new starter box for it but I'm thinking about selling the engine and pipe because it's the Rhonda drake edition. Might be worth enough to cover the conversion kit cost.
