Tough luck. But boy what a difference a week makes and some setup changes. Was looking really smooth. Great job John!
@dreyn77803 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a great job. The whole reason you shift the motor to the rear is to exploit the extra turning power. You don't engineer out all of the benefits. He built it like a lamborgini but drives it like a datsun.

Get the exotek caster blocks. Also put a front spool in the car and get sway bar set. Will help a lot. If you order the exotek C hubs. Buy their P- zero GT body. Way better than what your currently using. It’ll help you get through the turns
@netcruzer5 жыл бұрын
Great suggestions. I’ve done the spool and a full carbon upper deck. I have a few update videos. C hubs I bought lots of spares but will try to get exotek.

I made the same mistake, attempting to forge my own path with setup, without trying the stock setup first. You live and learn :)

It's perfectly designed right out of the box. Don't disrespect car designers. Traxxas electronics are exclusive as well. Aftermarket products DO what they claim, enhanced performance. Beyond scale driving. Too fast for the track.

Are there any other knuckles and c hubs that are more durable than the carbon reinforced ones. Putting these on my durango detc410 v2.

Yeah it always amazes me how a few mm here and there or slightly thicker/lighter oils can completely change the handling of an RC car. I've been doing RC a long time and getting ideal setups are still one of the most difficult things for me to get right. Thanks for watching!

Oh man right at the end the steering disappeared

You're wrong. He's tuned it in the opposite direction to being dailed in.
@micronrc38566 жыл бұрын
Yep looking dialed in. Definitely had that one if it weren't for the damage you missed after repairs. 👍👊😎☝️🐍
@dreyn77803 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Not dialed in at all. It's tuned to take out all of the benefits of a rear mounted engine car. The components are only doing 10% of what they could do.
@xsixinfantryx Жыл бұрын
you got the shocks backwards with what you were saying was harder and softer as far as how much they lean in..... The more a shock is upright, the harder and less progressive it will be. The more you angle it, the more leverage is on it, and it will start off being softer, and progressively harden up (depending on the angle or course)

I'm pleased with how the TA07 is working now but parts supply for Tamiya seems hard to get. Where do you order your Tamiya parts from? Also, as a channel update the amount of content I'm posting will likely slow way down for awhile. Work is getting busier, less daylight, and my backlog of footage is almost all used. I'll try to get at least 1 video a week up for the rest of 2018. Thanks!

have you checked Amain for parts?

Yes. When I looked a few days ago there was almost nothing, but today there are more parts in stock.

Me too, but they run out of stock sometimes. Since I last checked RCmart has more available, as does A-main, and I've just found RCJaz. So I can get parts, just nothing locally.

im going to get into on road racing. i want to use Tamiya or Redcat. your vids are so informative. thanks! :-)
@netcruzer5 жыл бұрын
Tamiya will perform better than Redcat. At least it should if you get a mid-range chassis with oil filled shocks. I’d recommend the TA or TB chassis series to avoid the high TRF prices
@AugustusMcMillan5 жыл бұрын
@@netcruzer i figured as much. thank you...
@dreyn77803 жыл бұрын
@@AugustusMcMillan no. You'd just skip over all the scale driving brands and get into cars that you tune as You're driving. Why waste time stopping the car so you can tune it? Traxxas is your car.

would it not be more neutral with the motor in the center position??

Possibly. I have not tried moving it fed yet. The shock oil was way too thick, that was the culprit.

Engineer at Tamiya design and test their oil so you shouldn't be changing the oil.
@netcruzer8 ай бұрын
???? Changing shock/diff oil weights for track tuning is something racers do. The stock oils are not ideal for all situations/surfaces/temps.
@dreyn77803 жыл бұрын
You're not actually fixing it. You've adjusted out all of the benefits of a rear mounted engine design. Your style of driving is front engine mount. You're turning with steering exclusively. Your driving style is late 1960's. You need to learn about 5 more ways to GO FAST. Front wheels toe out setting with rear wheels toe in is a fairly recent technique. Just rear engine mount technique is 1970's style of going fast round corners. And you couldn't handle the extra turning power.
