The 'slower' Willy did a wheelie allot further. That alone can make the difference in time. Need a more definitive test to compare than this one. I'd also like to see the results on hard surface.

Thank you for watching carefully our video. We also understand that wheelie makes a difference in time. It was reported by our other video. Thank you for your important comment.

Nice, I'm thinking of installing a brushless... :-)

Thank you for your comment. I am interested in brushless motors too.

I had a Technitune (adjustable timing) and in no setting was it faster than stock Mabuchi or Johnson 540s. The only advantage was potentially longer run time.

Thank you for comment. I also had a Technituned Motor. It is a very nostalgic memories.

Only slightly faster, not surprising at all. I always wondered why Tamiya recomended a smaller(!) pinion when installing the sport tuned motor (shouldnt a claimed more powerful motor be able to handle larger pinions instead?!) The 350 g-cm torque Tamiya claims for the sport tuned motor is pure bullshit, since its made of exacly the same hardware as the regular mabuchi 540 but with a advanced timing set, and theres benchmarks that actually shows the sport tuned to have slightly less torque than the standard 540. Btw the todays sport tuned motors is 27t, while the very old ones was a zero timing 23t and had a longer shaft.

pointless. It's a fun car and speed is not its goal. I think, even with a technigold or brushless it will not go beyond 2.5s, but become terrible to handle. What about different gearing + testing how it handles in a sandbox?

The spartan is a brushless boat and goes 80 kph

WR-02 is a comical RC model. Personally I think that Nickel-Cadmium is enough. Thank you very much for your comment.
