Red rice is not a knock off of anything it's red rice or southern red rice, i was born in Mississippi, The delta 2 be exact.. and we was raised eating this & my family also. sausage is always available : you can make homemade sausage or buy kelbasha or the likes . For a variation of this you can put shrimps, squid and /or chicken .

Has anyone ever seen this dish with cheddar cheese on the top of it? I grew up in South Carolina and ate it all the time as a child, haven’t been able to find the recipe but I’m pretty sure it’s just this with grated cheddar cheese on top of it for the last 10 minutes or so.
