Majority of the out of state offenders move to Florida after serving their time and being removed from the registry not knowing the state of Florida will place them back on the registry even 30 yrs later.

Sounds like were Heading in The Right Direction on getting the Registry Abolished, People need Housing and Work opportunities just like everybody else with a Criminal background. ABOLISH IT OR KEEP THE REPEAT DANGEROUS OFFENDERS ONLY ON IT FOR PRIVATE LAW ENFORCEMENTS!!!!

They done a 10 year study on this from 2000-2010 and came up with a lower recidivism rate as well as data showing that most sex crimes were committed by people who were not on the registry

It has to stop, it is just more punishment, got to stop the registry for all. Stop all back ground checks for employment and housing.Everyone has a right for second chances.

Background checks are necessary. But, I don't think its wise to remove background checks, but implement what many states have done, and that is a 7 year limit on look back period.

While i like everyone's opinions, a lot of them do believe the corrupt Federal government and their evil mouth piece, the Media. Even though a lot say they don't believe or trust them, i am afraid most have been properly brain washed. So you don't believe in second chance, that leads to them going back to prison, because they can't get work or housing. But like i said i support your right to believe anything, best wishes to you.@@mrtwister9002

The problem is that too many investigators, with marching orders from their actual sheriff, turn everything into a sex crime. This is then given to the state prosecutors to prosecute. If the person charged doesn’t have the money to hire competent counsel, they are left with a sub par public defender. I’m not going to get into whether the public defender has a personal belief as to the person’s guilt prior to them “defending” the accused. Although there are supposed to be levels of a crime that would determine whether the person goes to prison or the charge stays a sex offense is never implemented. It’s only about the conviction. Full stop. No amount of money spent on studies will change the fact that there are some that are fear mongers. Making mountains out of molehills and wonder why the problem is as big as it appears to be.

Looks like for once someone is trying to address the problem

As much as I hate to say. Increased crimes are quite likely due to increased cultural awareness to disclose perceived abuses etc. SORN may or may not contribute to the non violation crimes, hard to say. That said, SORN is unAmerican and it makes a lot of sense that this level of ostracized people, only makes life more desperate. Desperate people do desperate things. The comparisons to other countries are quite illuminating.
