Great review as always! After 6 mouths usage, it is my main lens now for shooting wedding videos, portrait or causal shooting. Love the range cover so nice and the optics is good enough to handle almost any situation. It's so convenient just bring a wide prime/ zoom lens with it, and you able to capture wide, mid and long range. Sometime just want to be lazy or not able to change lens, then this is the best choices!

How do you shoot video with this lens ? Handling it is possible ?
@johson19942 жыл бұрын
@@ClementFaucher To be honest, it's not comfortable for handheld since it's a front heavy lens. Most of the time film some short B-roll style short, also I use it with a7s3/ a7iv which has active stabilization, handheld video not the best way for it. But when you use it on tripod, it is quite a good option. I can set at f/2.8 for constant aputure, from 35 to 150. It's like a 24-105 bigger aputure version, better at some dim lighting scenario.

Absolutely crazy Lens, such a cool design! It basically combines the 24-70 and 70-200, put a wideangle lens into the bag and you're good to go. Only complaint I hear a lot is the weight. Carrying around such a lens over a 16 hour wedding will take some strength, especially compared to the flexibility that a prime offers with it's size. I am still torn on whether this is the best lens ever or just the best concept ever.
@martin94102 жыл бұрын
I agree completely. In fact, I love my 70-180, but wish it were 200mm. I wouldn't want to sacrifice another 30mm on the long end. I would be in favor that it is the "best concept ever."

Its all about versatility, its not just a nice concept...
@martin94102 жыл бұрын
@@NikosPer I see your point, but at the same time, it not always about versatility if you're not able to get the shot. I do a lot of event photography and the 150 range is just a bit too limiting for me. But I find between the 28-75, and 70-180, it works very nice. Plus, speaking about versatility, both lenses are extremely lighter than the 35-150, which to me makes a huge difference when shooting an event for 4 or 5 hours. Everyone has their own needs and perspective.
@NikosPer2 жыл бұрын
@@martin9410 just an amateur here-i dont own the lens, my point was about that you dont need to change lenses especially in the professional field which might be crucial for money shots. Even at 150 you may crop a bit and even AI upscale it later. Also dont forget that going out with a "35-150" in back of your mind, you might position yourself in places that you would avoid otherwise. Just my amateur thoughts.
@martin94102 жыл бұрын
@@NikosPer I understand...and many are in agreement with you. I've held the lens for a brief time and it is a heavy lens, but for some, that won't be an issue. I find carrying two light lenses an easy thing, rather than a heavy one. But this is why different lenses appear to different people for different reasons.

Great review. You really put the lens through its paces and it delivered with flying colors. I switched to Sony (from Pentax and Fuji combo) and decided to go all Tamron zooms for my lenses.If I had to pic my lenses over again, I would probably let the 28-75 and the 70-180 go and get the 35-150 instead. I am an old timer and have shot Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Pentax and Hassy systems extensively. The images I get from my A7RIV and the Tamron lenses are truly in the hi-res medium format territory. I am blown away by how good these Tamron lenses are.
@joelnormann2 жыл бұрын
Crazy lens! You say it's big and heavy, but given the parameters it actually seems fairly small to me. I'd be interested to see this on APS-C one day, especially Fuji. When you consider that the Fuji 50-140 is a bit longer, and almost as heavy, with less zoom range... Well, it kind of makes you want to see this lens come to Fuji X mount!
@MatheusPratta2 жыл бұрын
I'm really hopeful to see Tamron bring some nice lenses to Fuji, such as the 17-70mm f2.8... The 35-150mm f2-2.8 is also a nice option, but doesn't make much sense on Fuji being full-frame, maybe an even better crop version though?
@Eikenhorst Жыл бұрын
@@MatheusPratta Normally I would agree with you that it makes little sense to carry the full frame weight and only use half the light. However, as Joel states, the APS-C 50-140 F2.8 lens (which is kind of the 70-200 f.28 equivalent lens) is even heavier and has less range. So this is not an entirely crazy thought here. Still a shame of all the light being wasted though.....

Great review! As for the lens, sold the Tamron 70-180 2.8 + the Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG DN, and was lucky to get this soon after it was released. It's certainly the best from Tamron in everything (from autofocus, to build, to optical quality, to customisability), and it replaces the better part of a 24-70 2.8 + 70-200 2.8. As you have said, I personally use a Tamron 11-20 2.8 on an APS-C body, to complement it on the ultrawide side (that lens is also, though consumer-level built, exceptional in image sharpness).

I think it just depends on what folks use the lens for. I'm so in love with my Sony 35mm f4 GM lens, that I'll stick with that lens, the 28-75, and 70-180. In fact my traveling set up is the Sony 35mm f4, Sigma 65mm f2 and Sigma 90mm f2.8. Gives me a fairly small package for traveling. For me, I seldom shoot wider than 35mm, but do have a 24mm if needed. For more indoor events, I use the Sony 35mm f1.4, Sigma 85mm f1.4 and Samyang 135mm f1.8. I often have very little light to work with so they work great. But for wedding photographers, I can see why the 35-150 would be such a wonderful tool to use. I might use it on rare occasions but couldn't justify the price with how little I would use it. Plus, I really love the 70-180. I don't think I would want to sacrifice the 30mm on the long end. I already wish it was 200mm. But still, a great review and a great lens.
