I remember sitting out in a truck outside Centerpoint, Texas up on top of a hill. That was the only place I could get radio reception. It was the last game or so we thought I was yelling so much that my cousins neighbors down the hill called up to make sure everything was OK because they kept hearing me yelling inside the truck and my cousin came out and was like man my neighbors down the hill About you asked me to come inside and I told him I’m doing just fine. I had a pack of beer and a pocket full of jerky. It was one of the greatest games ever. I’m glad we won and God bless Texas! And I’m glad the rivalry is back!

Here's one for you to ponder... Prior to the early 1970s, A&M was an all male school where military participation was mandatory. This made recruiting of athletes at All-American levels of talent much more difficult for A&M than t.u. Also, while teasippers were busy dodging the draft during WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, the best Aggie athletes were serving their country during these times, making it hard on their athletic programs. Once A&M became coeducational and the military requirement was dropped, parity among the two schools was achieved when it came to recruitment of quality athletes. In fact, once that happened, A&M bested t.u. in the series from 1975 to 2011. Look it up. 😉
@joeycass16232 ай бұрын
You think Army & Navy give the same excuses when they lost national relevance since the 1950's? Army & Navy have never made excuses for their best athletes going to war and serving there country. Secondly that was A&M's choice to no be coeducational and to finally drop the military requirement. Lets really look at the elephant in the room. There were better military programs & regular athletics programs. That record is history and dominance of Texas athletics in the sport of football for decades. There is a reason aggies left the Big12 and a wanted away from the success of Mid 2000's Texas. There is no excuse for not winning and for not dominating with the talent in this state for football.

@@joeycass1623 In fact, every one of the service academies have the EXACT same reason for not being able to recruit All American athletes at the same level as other schools. Why do you think they were put in a conference with other inherently weak teams so they can have a winning season from time to time? Thanks for helping make my point. 😏
@joeycass16232 ай бұрын
@craighenley4805 nothing was proven. Basically, what I pointed out is A&M.Fans are crying and bitching about. The truth is A&M has been a mediocre program for the majority of the 2000s. Left the big 12 because they were getting stomped out by Texas & OU. The excuse has been gone for basically 40 years, and nothing has changed. All I see is excuses and insecurity being behind a top programs shadow. It's going to happen again with Texas now joining the SEC.

This is quite the aggy-centric version of events. I’ve got a question for aggy: Do you think you’ve comported yourself well in the last 13 years in the SEC? Have you made the state of Texas proud? How many conference championships have you won? Have you even made it to a single conference championship game? And if not, is it not time for a change? Is it not time for a better team from Texas, a Texas team that can actually take care of business amongst the mighty teams of the South, one that can compete with the Bamas and Auburns and Georgias on equal footing- is it not time for such a team to come down and assert themselves to bring honor to the state of Texas, since aTm has been unable to get it done, after 13 long years? Aggies! We’re coming. Be ready for us! 🤘🏼

Guess who Bevo’s vets are. Guess which school has a world class veterinary school. Guess which school helps farmers and ranchers produce the food on your table. Guess which school has had more students serve in the armed forces. A&M has done a LOT more for the betterment of the world than t.u. ever will. I graduated from University of Texas glad this rivalry is back but this state belongs to The Longhorns.
Too bad that A&M lost to Auburn and essentially lost their chance to play for a SEC championship. There was a time when A&M was vastly superior to Texas. From 1984 to 1994 A&M won 10 out of 11 match ups. A&M only lose was in 1990 when A&M decided to go for 2 instead of kicking the extra point. A&M never got the ball back and lost 28 to 27 in Austin . After 1994, Texas was just the better team by far. I expect A&M best effort , next Saturday.
