Awesome...still remember my first solo in a C-150, 1981. I had no idea that was the plan for the day! We did several take-offs/landings then pulled up to ramp (I was wondering why the lesson was cut short!)...then my instructor said, take Er up! My Initial thought was a slight bit of fear but at the same time, excitement! I remember thinking, ‘I am either going to fly this thing or die trying!’ Needless to say all went well. Congratulations!

Awesome! Great flying! Too bad no cutting off the back of your shirt. Such an awesome tradition. The back of the shirt I was wearing the day of my solo, still pinned up at RBW Airport in S.C. (20-years now). After it is cut off, you take a marker, put N# on it, aircraft make/model, date of solo, and your CFI/CFII signs it, before proudly being put on display. Happy/Safe Flying!

I love this plane. I don't even fly, but its my dream plane. Its also safer than the Cessna172, safer than the Piper Cherokee, and even safer than the Cirrus that has the parachute. Better safety record than all of the most common little planes. To me, the safety is one reason I love it, bu i love it because it looks close to a bird. The Cessna172 looks like a flying car. The Piper is ugly, loos like a flying suv. The Cirrus also looks like a car with wheels. To me, the Diamond DA40 looks like an eagle. Like what a plane should look like. Its almost poetic. Beautiful curved lines. Wing looks like what a wing should look like in the air. Some say that its more expensive than the others. But in safety, fuel, and design/looks, to me it is the GOAT out of the 4 most popular small planes. I f i was rich, i would get 2. One to fly. The other just to store environmentally sealed in a hanger, in case they stopped making them.

A very alarming question from the beginning of the video with the safety standards and as I fly on a DA40-TDI, how did you open the canopy and let a person out of the aircraft while the engine is running?!
@TheCapTan7 жыл бұрын
raphael traboulsi Wasn’t a safety concern. I was there to ensure the plane didn’t move. I think hand starting planes is much more of a safety issue.
@gordsh17 жыл бұрын
I did the same thing on my solo in a DA40, the only difference is that my instructor climbed over the wing towards the rear of the aircraft instead of the front. Like TheCapTan, I put the parking brakes on and held the canopy.
@raphaeltraboulsi77327 жыл бұрын
Yeah possible but as for safety regulations in the EASA UK CAA is different I guess, because we have to turn off the engine to let anyone near the aircraft.

@@TheCapTan Congrats again on entering the club, but no.. it's not safe to exit to the front of the wing with a running engine. I promise if you see the accident, you will never ever forget it. It takes literally 30 seconds to shut-down and start up again.

nice solo. Quick question from someone interested in the ppl. is it beneficial to start flying in the diamond during training or reserve it for when buying an aircraft that flies the diamond. Since you did train with the diamond here, did you train in other planes?
@TheCapTan2 ай бұрын
The diamond is great plane to train in. I first started on a Cessna 172 then went to the DA40 then got my ppl in the 172. I only did that as my flight school sold their plane and I lost my CFI and had to find a new one. The 172 would be cheaper if steam gauges but i enjoyed the DA40 more. I fly a Piper Arrow 180 now. You cant go wrong with either a 172 , DA40 and Archer. Finding a good CFI is the most important piece.
