I prepoo the night before with lots of oil on dry hair. Then I put on a plastic cap, a bonnet and go to sleep. I detangle the next day and the knots slide right out. Shampoo twice, condition and style. Perfect!

Do you finger detangle or use a tool? Also do you wet it as well or is the oil by itself enough?

Amen! I made that mistake when taking down my braids. I took the braids down late at night so I was tired and I went to sleep. Next day I did a small amount of tangling and then took my happy a.. in the shower to shampoo. It was a freakin nightmare. It took me forever and I lost soooo much hair. I’ll never make that mistake again. Pre poo and take your time. It makes a world of difference.

Yesss I spoke about this a lot in my videos. Pre-poo is such a necessary step for my hair because my hair is prone to being the most tangled at the roots. I agree with your tips!

This video was for me 😅! I've been noticing tangles at the root for a couple of months and I was like my hair must be growing so fast 🤣😭! I'm gonna do the water + aloe in a spray bottle then apply some oil and see. I switched to conditioner first then shampoo and then DC and I really like it. I don't know why all the conditioners that were mehh are now amazing since I've started using them as the first step.

I’m the reverse, I switched to DC first, then shampoo then conditioning. I also include oil rinsing with my conditioner. My hair loves it. It’s so much softer and I retain moisture for longer period of time.

Wow - I’m so glad I searched for this subject and found your video. I will try the pre poo of water and oil to my roots an hour before I shampoo. I never thought of that at all. I may even use water and that African pride pre shampoo treatment. You’re giving me ideas to move through wash day faster. Also, I’m one of those naturals that MUST wash twice a week - due to my amount of tangles. Gosh I hope this helps my next wash

I’m late to this but I have super kinky curly hair that’s fine too. People always ask me how I get my curls do curly and fine. That it looks like I do them individually but they’re like micro coils and and would take like 10 hours if I did. Ppl say they look nice even white ppl are amazed at how fine my curls are but it’s kind of a curse bc my roots matt up after a week of wearing a wash and go my hair shirks to like 75%. I think im going to either have to only do wash and goes for a few days or always do twists or braids bc I can’t stop it from matting. And I use a creamy hot oil treatment from lush to detangle it and every time I lose a a bunch of hair like a lot! It suck bc I finally learned how to make my curls pop and their unique ppl always comment on them but I can’t find a way to get around the matting I use everyone’s advice and nothing works my hair is going to shrink no matter what unless I stretch it right after detangling it! What’s the point in having super fine springy curls if I can’t rock them without them matting!

II am 72 years old and I have mid back length hair that shrinks up to about my shoulders. I have been using a hair growing concoction of fenugreek, chopped onion, chopped fresh rosemary, and olive oil-all organic. Since I have been using the concoction to come back alopecia and grow my hair, I’ve been experiencing root tangles for the first time in my life. You mentioned that the tangles can be caused by breakage or shedding. since it’s in a tangle I can’t tell how to determine which is which. Any thoughts how much going on Recently with my hair
