Wow, this vid was an eye opener! Always knew Tanis was a stone scrap yard, but was blown away by the discovery of the undisturbed tombs there! Have been reading about Egypt for over 55 years but this was BIG news to me! Only just found your site and it's a blast. Loving your perspectives. For instance, your vids about the Serapeum; a thorough treatment of the entire site, which of course is more than just the underground features. All new to this old fart! Already a subscriber and can't wait to binge on your other stuff. Respect!

Second part of the great video series of Tennis. Thank you, guys. I wonder why scholars don't make series like this. I'm not supporting the general idea of them but, for sure they are doing excavations for more than a century and I do respect and expect their point of view and research results in youtube and other social media than the academics press which is not easy to access to the public. I, personally follow the academic press and the papers but the public is not aware even of the excavations and research of them I suppose. Good job as always. Keep up the good work and good luck with your lifetime curiosity for asking why!

That Pi Ramses was moved to create Tanis should show that the Dynastic Egyptians were highly capable of moving massive objects. It seems that there should be some recorded evidence of how this vast movement of building materials was achieved. That they historically recycled so much of the megalithic monuments may speak to the Dynastic Egyptians limitations in the manufacturing technology required to create such monuments.

Sadly I missed Tanis even after 3 weeks in Egypt in early 2021. I like that you choose public transport. Travel is 1/2 the fun. Like you even in my 50’s I love getting lost. Tuk tuks and hostels and just meeting persons. Egypt is more than I expected and such a wild place. Definitely an advanced trip if you do it on the cheap for a person from a developed country. If you just take the time to sit on a bench and let a place come to you and don’t let your fears control, you can always find something everywhere. 30 years of world travel I’m glad to say

@AncientPresence
@AncientPresence 3 жыл бұрын
Totally. It’s a combination of ancient defacement, repurposing stones, earthquakes, Roman quarrying as well as later cultures, then the brutal modern quarrying and dynamiting and exploring that has left many sites in Egypt in a state of ruin and disarray. Tanis particularly is just a big mess. I wish we could’ve seen it in all its glory.

I wonder what the chances are of an amateur discovering a Rosetta stone type artefact convincing enough to force current thinking academics to acknowledge the existence of an earlier civilisation. I believe Tanis is Pithom, written about in the book of Exodus 1 : 11, and was destroyed twice by the most high; Yahuah Elohim (God), first in the flood of Noah (Genesis 7) because of the wickedness of mankind on the earth, and then again after the flood during the period of Ramses the 2nd or the 3rd when Yahuah's people Ya'ishral(Israel) were living in Mitsrayim(Egypt) in bondage to Mitsrayim in the land called; Goshen, located in the northern part of the Nile Delta, Yahuah then distoryed Tanis/Pithom again because the Pharaoh at that time would not let Yahuah's people the Ya'israelite's(Israelite's) go to worship Him in the wilderness, away from the view of the Egyptians,.. where they were required to sacrifice animals to Yahuah like; rams and bulls, animals that the Egyptians themselves worshiped, like the bull, so for them to see these animals being sacrificed would have been very offensive to them (Exodus 8 : 26 -27). I believe the great runes of Tanis/Pithom, shows much evidence in the ancient stone works of a past high technology that was known before the flood of Noah-(Genesis 7). Also the very large mud brick fortress wall built around Tanis/Pithom, I believe was built by the slave labour of the Ya'israelite(Israelite) people (Exodus 5 : 7), who were living in that area at that time, you can see it is of a much lower quality then the ancient stone work that mud brick wall surrounds. I believe the early Egyptians(Mitsrayim) found this ancient city of Tanis/Pithom and greatly honored and revered it, and it's ancient builders, hence why they had the giant mud brick wall built by their slaves the Hebrew people, to protect it from their enemy's. All this history can be found in the scriptures, it's full of the history of mankind and much more; I pray you would look into these things for yourself, and Yahuah willing, that it would greatly bless you and yours, Shalom.

@Keith Au This is a possibility that we have been interested in for a long time. Ironically, the more we research the ancient world, the less certain I feel about any of these alternative ideas. I think we need to use laser metrology scanning equipment to find out just how "precise" the most finely crafted stoneworks of Egypt are, and then we can try to recreate that level of precision with copper age tools, before we can conclude they were made using high technology. That would pretty mind blowing if that turned out the be true though. I think we just don't know enough yet.
