I got a cannon alpha hybrid version and I am towing 2.5t trailer boat. Comparing to towing with a 2.0T older GWM cannon, the acceleration is much better and the control is much much better. Like you said the fuel consumption is much higher (on my old GWM cannon it was 15L/100km) I haven't test long distance towing with new alpha hybrid. I will be testing it next month. Another thing I found is that the rear camera on cannon alpha cannot see the tow ball anymore. I got a short video of GWM alpha towing 2.5t boat. Will do more test

I constantly have issues where podcasts are being stopped and started and music volumes changed. Also on the cruise, it would have been worth mentioning to resume the cruise at the same speed, hold the stalk back for 5 seconds to resume, but thanks for the double-tap info.

@Mike_221Ай бұрын
Any turbo engine particularly a 4 cylinder should be using 98 and given you are towing on maximum load, even more reason to use 98. Surprised it hasn't blown up under all that pressure. Poor knock sensors.
@SavageTechAustraliaАй бұрын
This car is tuned specifically for 91 octane fuel. Using 98 octane in this case wouldn’t provide any additional benefit, as the ECU isn’t mapped to take advantage of the higher-octane rating. Proper tuning is key, and the knock sensors are functioning as intended.
@Mike_221Ай бұрын
@SavageTechAustralia it has a 12:1 compression ratio you would be an idiot not to put 98 Ron in it.
@SavageTechAustraliaАй бұрын
@Mike_221 The compression ratio is just one factor in determining the required octane fuel. While a 12:1 ratio may suggest the need for higher-octane fuel, the Tank 500's engine is designed and tuned to run optimally on 91 RON as specified by the manufacturer. Modern turbocharged engines like this have advanced knock sensors and timing controls, which adapt to prevent knocking and ensure safe operation with lower-octane fuel. Using 98 RON in an engine tuned for 91 won’t provide added benefits unless the engine is specifically tuned for it. In summary, the compression ratio alone doesn’t dictate the fuel requirement-it's about how the engine is designed and tuned. Following the manufacturer’s recommendation ensures the best performance and reliability.
@Tim12-g7cАй бұрын
Don't want to sound like a wanker but I'm a firm believer of using 98ron fuel in modern cars even if they are designed to be able to handle 91. My theory is than it burns cleaner and even between the piston strokes than 91 so you get even pressure with every combustion cycle therefore increasing engines longevity, but that just me . Each to their own I guess.

I am staggered when I see videos like this. What is the rationale for using utes and big SUV's in Australia? We have a 6.5m caravan (2,480 kg gtm) and we use a bog standard Volvo XC60 D4 inscription ( 2.0 L diesel, air suspension, 8 speed ZF auto). We average 12 L/100 km fuel consumption while towing (approx. $200 per 1,000 km). Why would anybody tolerate spending $500+ per 1K? It's mind boggling people are so stupid. We never struggle sitting on the speed limit and we never struggle with stability or safety. Simply amazing the excuses people use for using fuel guzzling, highly modified shit boxes. I'd rather do it in comfort and luxury and save money to boot.
@SavageTechAustraliaАй бұрын
No offence intended, but the Volvo XC60 is simply not designed for off-road tracks-it's a completely different category of vehicle compared to the Tank 500. The Tank 500 is not only more capable off-road, but it also offers a much higher level of comfort and luxury. Having owned over 30 European cars myself, I can confidently say the Tank 500 is in a league of its own when it comes to combining capability with refinement.
