The main issue with the movie is that the director wanted to make it appropriate to the comic. The studio however wanted an origin story, despite the comic not having one. They wanted an explanation for the mutant kangaroos. They requested bizarre changes to the script, used production art instead of building models, cut out most of Sub Girl's scenes, had the star ad-lib a bunch of extra dialogue "to test with audiences", etc. Sadly a lot of what they cut were scenes that made Tank Girl a likeable character with a bit of depth. So when you see the comic art and the animation, that's all padding the studio had to put in to make up for all their cutting after the fact... This movie could have, and should have been a vulgar sarcastic parody of Mad Max. Instead it's Solarbabies on crack.

The problem is not only did the production run out of money and time near the end of filming, but the comics (love 'em btw) are almost anthology based. What I mean is they center around Tank Girl and her kangaroo boyfriend Booga, but there's not really an overlapping extended storyline. Its just different situations with her, Booga, her badass friend Jett (in the comics she's smart but definitely not some mousy twit) or the people she interacts with. It was difficult to make a full story out of it, at least film wise. Not to mention Tank Girl is very much an adult comic, complete with dicks, cussing, voilence to... well fuckin' everyone. Later on she has a son with a friggin' TV for a head. The comics are crazy and just enjoying the insane adventures Tank Girl deals with. But fuck it I still loved this movie when I was little and even now, it had a major impact on my personality and who I am today. Weird to say I know, but Tank Girl and her rocket tits will always hold an explosive place in my heart

@JesusPerez-wl3ii8 жыл бұрын
+R3j3cts0fv0w3ls He IS over doing it. He's given some shittier films some better points. Nostalgia Critic can be lame half the time. Most of this review wasn't a review and most of the criticism wasn't criticism but stupid jokes that were far dumber than the ones on film. Sometimes his criticism actually makes him look stupid Example: His criticism for the awful Super Mario Bros. movie has him at one point watching a clip where Luigi says, "You don't know who your mother and your father are neither? Mario brought me up! He's been my Mother my whole life." Mario says, "Hey!" and Luigi says, "Ok My Father! He's been my Father, My mother, my uncle you name it." Shitty film, but he is simply saying that his brother pretty much raised him. Yet the Nostalgia Critic quickly adds that he thought they brothers, but now he says Mario is his father? Simply put, Who the Hell would honestly misunderstand that ESPECIALLY with the Obvious Mario Brothers and sibling jokes constantly being tossed around. My problem is that sometimes he doesn't get the obvious and other times he sees art where it obviously isn't and sometimes his criticism isn't criticism but mockery that isn't even vaguely funny to even a four yr old, but at times he does give some very well placed criticism and good reviews and is occasionally funny as well as spot on (I LOVE his Cat in The Hat criticism. I like to believe thats why they stopped the live-action garbage franchises they were trying to do.)

@shawnfields27575 жыл бұрын
Groundhog Day 1993 is AWESOME! Also my life summed up too. Feels like a Groundhog Day-style loop of just me living every boring shitty moment I've ever had, from somehow contracting epilepsy when I was 16, and in high school, so 2009, dropped out of high school in 2012, lost my best friend, because he completely forgot we were even best friends once he got a girlfriend, and he was in the middle of helping me through DMC4 on the 2nd hardest difficulty level, something I couldn't do myself, I've NEVER had a girlfriend, I've been rejected by too many girls to remember, except for the last one, which happened 2 months ago, where the girl I've had a crush on for the past 2 years, ends up finding out how I feel about her, only for her to tell ME that she feels the same way, and has for the same time, but that certain things in her personal life prevented her from acting on those feelings and she'd been regretting it ever since. But I was too stupid to believe an actual, REAL girl could have romantic feelings for ME, but I guess I WAS right after all! I thought I was just delusional, but NOPE!! I was right!!! And on the same day I told her these things, through text, she said she wasn't" mature enough" to be in a serious relationship with me, and that "MAYBE yes, we COULD be together in SOME future, but for now I want to keep talking, even if it's as friends". THAT was 2 months ago. Now, for the last 4 Saturday's,which is 4 weeks in a row she's stopped replying to my texts altogether, so i guess i can take that as a sign that even SHE'S had enough of my shit... It's ALL my fault anyways.... even though I KNEW this would happen, it STILL felt like a sucker punch, and it STILL hurt, but it hurt WORSE than what I initially expected, at least 50-100× worse. So, even though I expected rejection, and knew it was coming I was still disappointed, hurt, scarred, and let down by this. I should be used to disappointment by now anyways, but I guess that's what I get for trying to find love, isn't it? I've been at this for 18 years, since I was 7, a little boy, so around 2001. I just don't know how everyone around me found love so goddamn easily, when it keeps escaping me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I also don't get HOW 2 people who can feel the SAME way about each other, and yet, STILL NOT start taking their relationship to the next fucking level! It's just me, isn't it? I'm not here to find love, just as an excuse for someone to mock and make them feel better about their lives, while i sit here, by myself, and wonder why me? Why do I have to be lonely? Why can't a guy like ME enjoy nerdy things like anime or video games, and STILL be able to find love, and not have to feel like he's alone in the world? But I guess it's just me. I know I SHOULD be used to disappointment by now, and not be that bummed, but I am. And I'm especially sick of seeing ALL of these couples, or something relating to them, like when I keep hearing love songs on the radio, seeing romances in films, in anime, even here, in certain KZbin comments sections, even in games I love too, its inescapable, and all of it keeps constantly reminding me of what I don't and will most likely NEVER have. Man, I just wanted to be happy with this girl, who I thought was the one I'd been looking for my whole life, but like every other time, I was WRONG, dead fucking wrong. So, it must be a Groundhog Day-style loop, where I keep reliving the worst times of my life, and have to keep remembering them, as if they happened yesterday. Like losing my best friend to his girlfriend, or me, being rejected, over and over, and over and over again, like all of the girls in the entire world got together, and ALL collectively decided I was only the "just friends" guy, but not suitable for dating. It makes sense though, I'm just too fat, ugly, and nerdy for ANY girl to feel like they'd want to date me, even if I were the last man on earth, even if I'd paid them, they STILL(reasonably), wouldn't want to even PRETEND to be my girlfriend for an hour, or even just a day or 2 or a week!! I'm sorry for venting this much of my pathetic life to you good sir. Have a great day/night.

With a lot of word going around about studios dropping comic movies due to superhero fatigue and poor production, direction, and faith to the source material, I highly doubt that’s going to go through. Movies based on comic books at this point just need to stop already.

Creature creator Stan Winston (who cut his rates in half to work on this film) designed the Rippers and threw in Predator elements because it was fun and funny. If you don't know, he designed the Predators in the first place. That no name extra that didn't put this on his resume, was Richard Schiff who went on to win "outstanding supporting actor" for the West Wing. Love her or hate her, Courtney Love was the music designer on the film and the soundtrack is still one of the best. The disjointed nature of the film is due in part of the lack of Balls Hollywood has. There were creative differences between the studio and the crew from day one and it was a nearly impossible film to make. The studio fought so much and insisted so much get cut, that much of the story was lost and some scenes just don't fit because of their meddling. They had such a small budget, that chunks of big action scenes had to be animated... those trippy animated scenes add to the movie in my opinion and make it even more irreverent and a big middle finger to the typical vanilla American cinematic experience. I'm sorry you didn't get it, but hopefully others watching this will take the time to see it regardless. I liked it.

I could easily see a remake of this. Sort of in the style of MadMax, with comedy mixed in. And with those transitions, they could pop up as drawings, and than have it fade into the real set. That's how you do a transition like that!

the creators of the comic hated the production experience and were disappointed with the final product. Apparently a lot of the animated sections were created because the production team forgot to film the transitions. That is why there was never attempt at another movie, it soured them on the experience. I liked the movie when I was in High School/College. Less and less as I got older and realized it was kinda annoying and poorly done.
