I honestly haven't been this excited as a Jay fan since Skybound. Which really dealt with a lot of Jay's insecurities. I also really want a heartfelt moment between him and Kai. Like Jay is going to actually kill him, but Kai gasps out how he's always known Jay's heart kept his massive power in check, and he's sorry he never said it. And Jay just freezes. So much beautiful, heartbreaking angst! I want it so badly!

I think they did it as a way to serious Jay’s character. Jay compared to older seasons has basically become a comic relief. Now that he has a shattered sole, there’s no way he can go back to who he was so now we get to see more depth in his character.

Jay’s loss effect on Nya is probably stronger than the effect Nya’s loss was on Jay. Jay only lost Nya for a year while Nya has gone most likely 5+ years without Jay. Plus Nya also has to deal with Jay being evil and not wanting to do anything with her.

I like to think Jay being gone lets the ithers realize how much they actually need him as an asset of the team since he is most commonly seen as the weakest link, even though hes not. As for *why* he is not, Jay's fous season (Skybound and Prime Empire) he ended the final battles through wirds not actions. That's why hes seen as weak because physically he doesnt do much but mentally, hes one of he best people on the team.

I don't want to cause an argument. (Spoiler alert from future me: i did cause an argument.) But i feel like jay loves nya more than nya loves jay... Is that just me? Because one of my examples of my opinion is skybound, where jay literally trusted the ENEMY just for nya to love him, and in crystallized part 1, jay literally had an identity crisis over nya 😂 but meanwhile, nya is over here competing in a tournament, which i cant even blame her because it's for the greater good... But i guess people have different emotions for different situations. Edit 1: and jay almost fought for nya in rebooted, causing a (stupid) love triangle AKA feud in the team. Jay even agreed to personal space with his literal soulmate!!! I'm all for boundaries but it was nya who did it, not jay, nya! I'm I the only one noticing this???

I'm not trying to start anything here, but my theory on the matter is that different people handle love differently. Nya is all about being strong and independent, and Jay doesn't mind being open and vulnerable with people - his heart is on his sleeve. So when it comes to losing the other, Nya channels her emotions and fights on, and Jay shows his emotions more openly and may prefer to spend his time sulking and being pensive, needing to be encouraged to keep fighting unless something he really cares about comes up. Jay always told Nya "I love you" and was always extremely openly affectionate (making it all the more painful to see him do the complete opposite, treating her like a stranger, showing her no respect, rudely shoving her away and coldly stating he hates her), and Nya seems to prefer the "show not tell" method for the most part, helping him out and spending time with him when she can (making it all the more painful when she became one with the sea, forgot him, and left him).

@TannerFishies Something I think would be perfect for Jay's arc would be him discovering his past and memories in a similar style to Po from "Kung Fu Panda 2". If the writers gather the courage to give him a tragic backstory like maybe his mother's home being attacked and she sacrifices herself to leave him somewhere safe before being killed by the attackers, it would really be amazing to see him first discovering his origins before remembering his time as a ninja. Since the original series ended without even explaining exactly what happened to his birth parents, I feel like this could be the perfect opportunity to write a great tragic story to a beloved comical character such as Jay.
