As a kid we went clam digging and ate them right there at the beach. No washing or purging them. Dig up the clams and shuck and eat!

Sounds like good times! I often just rinse mine from the grocery store and have no issues, but I showed how to purge them in this video mainly for the “food police” on the internet 😆😆

I always find cherrystone clams taste best sashimi (raw) style. They taste as fresh as the ocean water they come from. I always get them from fishers off the New England coast where the water is coldest.

I agree. I love sashimi in general though!

you get the water w/ seasoning hot before adding the clams to cook on medium heat? you dont heat the water while the clams are added, right? thanks in advance!

Its a crying shame that Annapolis Seafood Market had to shut down after 44 years----right here on the coast where all the good crabs, clams, oysters, shrimp and fish like Rockfish would be on sale at a very fair price. You could get large fresh shrimp for $13 a pound or $30 for 3 pounds, steamed and spiced. I always got the. 3 pounds. We get Crabs Benedict here ot $2 more that that little phony slice of ham.

Never heard of anyone purging clams- you ruined them and the salt water is flavor. Same thing with crayfish

You must’ve never had quahogs before, it shows

Don't know how you can ruin the clams with saltwater. That's what they live in 😮

You need to scrub those clams with a brush running among the water don't do nothing
