Hi guys! Today, Maria, Evelyn and Lesley are off to Porvorim where Evelyn is going to visit the Mall de Goa and Lesley am going to be doing shopping in Delfino’s. And after that we have decided to go to quite a well known place in Alto Betim, which is Tanvi. Many of the Porvorikars would already know of Tanvi. Evelyn has been going there for quite some years and she says the food is very good sp we are looking forward to a great fish lunch after a fun morning of shopping.
Maria has found the perfect bag for us in Mall de Goa. “People who love to eat are always the best people”

Costs we paid: special chonak thali Rs 350, fish curry rice plate Rs 200, teesrio sukka Rs 250, mutton sukka Rs 300, chapati Rs 15
Tanvi is a small but very popular place. Today we’re having regular fish thali, which had tamso (Rs 200), special chonak thali (Rs 350), mutton sukka (Rs 300), chapati (Rs 15) and our favourite teesrio sukka (Rs 250) to start.
The special chonak rice plate also has rawa fry prawns! No wonder this place is packed
The difference between normal fish thali and special fish thali is that in special you get teesrio also
The special fish thali had prawn curry, white pumpkin bhaji, crab masala, shark ambot-tik, teesrio sukka, sol kari, salad, rawa fried prawns, chonak and rice
We really enjoyed all the food. The fish fry with fish curry rice here is absolute heaven. The teesrios were fabulous, the mutton curry fabulous and the fish was fabulous. We really enjoyed it. See you again there

Hi Lesley. My wife and myself have been following your channel for sometime now. We love how you and the gang visit local Goan places and try to give them a much needed push. There were a couple of spots we visited about 5 years back which I thought I could refer to you. Shantadurga bar & restaurant in Parra & Nilima bar & restaurant in Siolim. The rava fried fish was truly memorable at the time since they apply a good coating of Goan masala before frying it. I believe they have different styles of preparations. Surmai, prawns, mussels, chonak, modso, red snapper, lepo etc The fish thali was really good too. I really hope these 2 places are still open & are the same in terms of food quality after all this time. If so I'm sure you and the ladies will enjoy your meals. Rock on as always! Hello Jill. We try to visit a mix of lesser known and well known eateries. But Copper Leaf and Souza Lobo are so famous even among tourists that we are less likely to visit them. Also because parking has become a pain in Porvorim and Calangute is impossible to park. And tough for us to go by bike from Benaulim to Calangute. Thanks for watching our videos

Is a thali a lunch meal or a evening meal, or do restaurant serve them at both times. Would someone order a thali in the evening or is more that someone would have at lunchtime.

Very few restaurants serve thalis at dinnertime too. People mostly have it for lunch. Many Goans have bread at night, not rice

Hello Lesley! I would suggest to visit Dodo’s kitchen, one of the best Fish Thali restaurant in Siolim. I’ve recently visited the place and food was awesome with terrific river view. Highly recommended!!
