Thank you for also highlighting that Somalia was colonised not by three, but by four colonial empires. Ethiopia (although an African empire) was very much a colonial empire in east Africa and subjugated many peoples such as the Oromo, Afar, Somalis and Hararis.

Firstly, “Ethiopia colonising Somalia” is not true. Just like it’s not true Kenya colonised Somalia. The Ethiopia King Menelik II made treaties with France and The British East India Company to divide our land amount themselves just before the opening of the Suez Canal, which opened in 1869. Today this day, Ethiopia is occupying Ogaden and parts of West and South West Djibouti. And Kenya is occupying The Northern Frontier, even though an overwhelming majority of Somalis, living under British rule as part of the Kenyan protectorate, voted to join Somalia in a democratic election when Kenya gained independence in 1964. We waited for 4 years for Kenya to gain independence because the British promised that they would return what they stole. And we all know about their lies. And also, how comes the Somaliland protectorate has grown? The Somaliland protectorate was like the size of Djibouti and now it’s spreading to all of North Somalia. Trying to pass this off as a genuine vintage map is propaganda. We’ve all seen the map of the British empire, imagine trying to lie to that many people🙊🙉🙈

Look up the Anglo Ethiopian treaty of 1897 when the Ethiopians made a deal with the British to gain control of Somali Galbeed (Ogaden region). That is the very definition of colonialism and collaboration with western imperialism

The Daraawish state was independent for many years and was not under the British Somaliland colonial government until after the Sayyid was defeated. Italian Majerteen was also under the Italian colonial regime after the north eastern majeerteen and Hobyo sultanates were forced to sign protectorate treaties.
