MAGNESIUM 12ga. Slugs - We Test Them!

Dr. Chris is back and submitted some magnesium anode slugs he designed. These only functioned through full rifling and all had great stability. However, we did have some variations in the accuracy. Still a very fun test and I hope you enjoyed experiencing it with us!

TFM tests so many "exotic" projectiles, it's not surprising that some fail to live up to expectations. Regardless of outcomes, it's worthwhile to see how they perform. The "Blew" Danube segment near the end of the video was definitely worth waiting for. Thanks for all you do, TFM!

Great video, I liked seeing the sparks come out of the top of the ballistic plate. That one produced the best light show of the bunch. I was also impressed with how deep that light slug punched into the lead plate.

I recognized that song as well and had to stop watching this video and go right down the rabbithole... watching the very first episode of The New Price is Right from 1972. That music is what they used for the "Come on down!" cue in that first taping... heavy on the horns minus the synthesizer. Search it on YT... it is like a time capsule... 1972 commercials and all. If these were made from marine anodes, they are more likely to be zinc than magnesium. It would have been easy to be sure with a blowtorch to the scrap.

Always good to see your show and glad you are still around making them. I always wondered how lead egg sinkers lead bullet sinkers and lead ball sinkers would do out of a shot gun. Especially the 1/4 oz 1/2 oz 3/4 oz and the 1 oz weights would do . I shot the egg sinkers 3/4 of an oz from a sling shot they went all the way across a small lake about 100 yards not bad for a slingshot so just what would they do out of a shot gun.

I saw it too, but I guess the armoured plate has a fabric layer (soft armour) at the back of the solid plate. The slug penetrated the plate, but not the fabric. The sparks was channeled up through a slit between the layers. The hole in the shirt was not in the right position to be made by this slug.
