UK/Japanese resident here! I own guns in both countries and can say your channel is definitely popular UK and a small base in Japan but not just because it's stupidly backhanded to own firearms but remember 90% of what you shoot is slugs! I'd say the most owned gun in the UK or Japan is either a hunting rifle or most popular a shotgun so slugs for us are something we can get so it's always fun seeing the new stuff! Shame i couldn't meet up with you guys would of loved to have you round in Scarborough to shoot a few weirder firearm's in the UK maybe another time haha

@@taofledermaus Ayyy I'm happy to hear that, always have enjoyed watching your content so to hear my country talked about was a bonus on top! People just usually make some jokes about us and leave but I do appreciate you seeing how hard it actually is guy guns let alone having to acquire two different licensees to own firearms or shotguns! It can be very exhausting but hey atleast suppressors are a dime a dozen in the UK and it's just like picking up a chocolate bar! Anyways thanks for the comment and best of love and wish for the channel!!!!!

Same thing here in Germany.. I've got a bit of a bi-polar relationship with guns; thinking that it shouldn't be too easy to get a gun without a process to maticulously make sure the person knows gun laws, safety and is somehow identifiable if their gun ends up being used for a crime, but at the same time loving them to bits without a particularly strong desire to own one myself. 😅 I too, as OG phrased it, live out my passion and love for guns through various US GunTubers like DemoRanch and Kentucky Ballistics - the reason I love TFM so much is my other interest: Science and SlowMo footage of it. This channel is "The SlowMo Guys of GunTube". 😁
@jackthemagiccat4571
@jackthemagiccat4571 Жыл бұрын
@HG_Budde aye I feel say, well I personally think those things you mentioned should be the basics of even owning a gun, whether they could enforce it is another subject but that's boring, while I do still shoot guns and mess around with some weirder things I mostly live my own passion through those channels you mentioned I probably wouldn't of even picked up a gun if it wasn't for the channels getting me jnto them when I was a bit younger haha so yer KZbin was the start of my gun life! Also if you absolutely love slow mo gun footage, there's a recently new channel called "ballistic high speed" it's directly dedicated to testing guns in slow mo and the different effect, materials and ammo of all types I still love TPMs slow mo and explanation but if we are saying slow mo guys of gun tuber world they have it in my opinion but again TFM is OG of gun slow mo I'm pretty sure and they came up with a few ideas that another of gun tubers use now! To me TPN is like father figure or uncle who teaches you everything about your first shotgun haha got all that wisdom and age of experience compared to other channels.
@HG_Budde
@HG_Budde Жыл бұрын
@@jackthemagiccat4571 First, let me say a huuuuuge "Thank you!" for suggesting High-speed Ballistics to me! I don't know how that's even possible, but I've never even heard of it before and they probably are the best channel to satisfy my love for projectiles and explosions hitting and interacting with stuff in SlowMo. ❤️ Secondly, I have fired lots of different guns and that fairly often during my time in the German Army and it's only because I have witnessed what they can do and what happens if they are used as a tool to do what they originally were invented for, I don't feel the need to pick one up ever again. Without this, I probably would have tried to get one and would have joined a gun association. I honestly only watch channels that are either shooting, are shooting at silly stuff or do it for educational purposes, like Edwin Sarkissian or Smarter Every Day. I have not interest in channels like Garand Thumb, Administrative Results or 9 Hole Review, I don't care about the gun, but what comes out of it. 🤗 And yes, one might think that gun control, as practiced in the UK, Australia or in my case Germany, is just common sense, but the political right, the NRA and its lobbyists do a pretty good job with equating gun control and banning gunsentirely. They somehow convinced their listeners that all the countries that exercise gun control don't allow acquiring or possessing any guns at all and that's probably why so many of the conservatives are against it. Their entire conception of gun control is just fundamentally wrong - the US isn't the only country where guns exist outside of government organs, there are loads of other countries with private gun ownership; they just don't let anyone who wants one but don't fulfill the requirements like responsibility, mental stability or uneducated people seeing and using guns as toys, letting them lie around fully loaded everywhere in their houses. The funny thing is that if you asked them about singled out topics out of the pool of safety measures which gun control consists of, like having to do a mandatory course to learn how to handle guns and ammo, a background check or a 30 day waiting period, most of them will agree; but the moment you call it "Gun Control", they instantly become hostile.. it's like the conservative politicians programmed their minds or trained them like dogs to act a certain way everytime they hear it. They made this expression a fighting term to use to discredit even the most watered-down gun legislation and even things that have nothing to do with guns. Every time one of their opponents want to pass a law about something the right doesn't like, they only need to remind their own side that the guys who made this law "want to take all of the guns away" and voilà, the legislative proposal fails miserably. So, for all the anti-gun control guys: We, the "pro gun control people" don't want to take the guns away from the good guys, all we want is to make it harder for the bad guys to get their hands on a gun. Which should be in your interest, because less bad guys with guns means less bad publicity for guns and less feeling uneasy because potentially anyone could suddenly pull a gun on you. 🤔

I believe the idea is for the core to be ejected / injected upon impact with a hard target or armor. He either needs to use THREAD SEAL (Loctite) to secure the smooth core (instead of JB weld that is viscous and probably evacuated when the press fitting was performed) or thread the tungsten core into the aluminum (as a screw in a tapped hole).

To the slug maker: For the next version, make them oversized and crimp them to spec in a hydraulic hose crimper. If there is any space in the penetrator's hole behind the penetrator, the body will crimp in behind it locking it in. The ribs left by the crimper die should result in excellent rifling engagement.

I feel like I'm missing something... if you're gonna put a tungsten core in a projectile, why would you drill/ream all the way through it??? I'm new to machining, but not to physics or shooting. If I was making these, I'd probably go with steel for the body since it's not full bore. I'd have shallow grooves on the body running from base to nose to aid in the sabot/wad gripping it(not an issue in these tests). For the core, I'd ream for a 0.0005" to 0.001" press fit/thermal shrink fit. The pocket would only be 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through the body. I'd then drill the tiniest hole I could, the rest of the way through the body, to allow air to escape the pocket when pressing in the core. Again, new to machining, so I may be off by a mile for some reason.

It is true what greg said us brits do watch as gun ownership is very difficult in the uk step 1 a medical £160. Then the police take a look at you and your neibours then roll a dice if it hits 6 you get to toss a coin and the police call afrer the coin has landed. LoL i pretty sure thats how it works.

So for a stronger bond you'd need to what? Temperature differential press fit? Course they'd need to be sized at point of manufacture.

For the slugs withe the heavier core, perhaps a solid back and the core set in from the nose, and secured with JB Weld.

Brain should leave a thin web at the bottom of the slug body that the tungsten core sets in. Instead of a through hole have it like a counter bore. This would eliminate the need to try and “glue” it in place.

Do you think it would be possible to taper the tungsten core with a matching taper on the aluminum? Hopefully the slug would stay together until it hit something.

Why not step drill the body that holds the core so it can't slip thru like a cone! Or get fancy and thread the bullet. Oh shit I guess u can't thread tungsten, but step drilling it to a cone so it can't slip thru is the way..

When the core flies out, one has a hollow round which might explain the remarkable stability. In order to hold the core, do not bore through but keep an alu bottom or screw in an alu plug at the bottom

I think if he would of cast the aluminuminuminum slug around the core instead of drilling a hole and JB welding the core into the slug it may have held together..

For dissimilar metals, has anyone tried the Bitteroot process? It makes great bonded core bullets.

I second the idea of not drilling all the way through the slug, so the core can’t easily slip out. I also wonder if a threading die would work on a tungsten rod…

It’s a shame the cores didn’t stay in the slug, was looking forward to see my favourite metal make some holes.

Before watching the first shot just gonna say if your core is the heaviest component to a projectile, having an open rear invites failure.

The core coming out may be the cause of the inconsistent point of aim.
